[Termes IGN] prévention des risquesRésumé : (Auteur) Coastal chalk cliff falls in Upper Normandy (France) are frequent and have specific spatial and temporal distributions. From 2002 to 2009, the ESTRAN organization (Scientific and Technical Space of Aquatic Resources and Navigation) conducted a weekly inventory of 331 cliff falls (location, volume, and date) between Veules-les-Roses and Le Treport (37.5 km). An amount of 331 falls was counted (date, location, measures of fall deposit). This database is remarkable because of the duration and high frequency of field surveys. The geographical and spatial statistics (locational analysis) methods used in this study aim to determine and understand the spatial and temporal distributions of coastal chalk cliff falls. Exhaustive cartography of such falls thus highlights the cap d’Ailly sector as being the most sensitive to an erosive dynamic along the coast from Veules-les-Roses to Le Treport. Furthermore, this cartography stresses many types of fall kinematics. This can be partly explained by lithological characteristics may predispose mass and particle movements. Using the combination of centrographic statistics, Ripley’s K-function, Besag’s L-function and kernel density, we have identified: 1) high cliff fall polarization at cap d’Ailly; 2) organization scales of fall locations per water year; 3) areas of massive and numerous falls (fall hazard areas). This information is essential for a better understanding of the working of the studied area and also for the set up of risk prevention tools. [Termes IGN] risque naturelRésumé : (auteur) This study demonstrates the effectiveness of remote sensing and analytical hierarchy process for avalanche hazard mapping. The layers incorporated in this study were of slope, aspect, profile curvature, ground cover and elevation. The accuracy of output was determined using the registered avalanche sites based on ground observations and field-based modelling techniques. 93.35% of avalanche-affected areas came under maximum and moderate hazard zones, thus proving the effectiveness of this technique for Gangotri glacier basin. A parallel study was done to observe the change in the results, if any, by using high-resolution DEM and Cartosat-1 imagery. Similar methodology was adopted and the outcome was having significant improvement over the previous result as 98.8% of the preregistered avalanche area falling within maximum and moderate hazard zones. [Termes IGN] simulationRésumé : (auteur) The aims of this study were to apply, verify and compare a frequency ratio model for landslide hazards, considering future climate change and using a geographic information system in Inje, Korea. Data for the future climate change scenario (A1B), topography, soil, forest, land cover and geology were collected, processed and compiled in a spatial database. The probability of landslides in the study area in target years in the future was then calculated assuming that landslides are triggered by a daily rainfall threshold. Landslide hazard maps were developed for the two study areas, and the frequency ratio for one area was applied to the other area as a cross-check of methodological validity. Verification results for the target years in the future were 82.32–84.69%. The study results, showing landslide hazards in future years, can be used to help develop landslide management plans. [Termes IGN] zone à risqueRésumé : (Auteur) The Likelihood Ratio (LR) Model has been applied as an improvement upon the Frequency Ratio (FR) that computes the ratio of the percentage of the landslide pixels to the percentage of the non-landslide pixels instead of the total number of pixels used in the denominator as in case of the FR. The comparative assessment of the two techniques is made through spatial modelling of GIS vector data using the ArcGIS software. Two different Landslide Information Values were computed for each polygon element of the study area employing the two FR techniques that categorized the study area into five classes of vulnerability using natural breaks (Jenks) technique. Subsequently, vulnerability zonation maps were prepared showing the different levels of landslide vulnerability. The LR technique yielded significantly higher vulnerability assessment accuracy (77%) as compared to the standard FR (71%).
