[Termes IGN] température de surface de la merRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes the first comparison of satellite radar and airborne laser altimetry over sea ice. In order to investigate the differences between measurements from the two different instruments, we explore the statistical properties of the data and determine reasonable scales in space and time at which to examine them. The resulting differences between the data sets show that the laser and the radar are reflecting from different surfaces and that the magnitude of the difference decreases with increasing surface air temperature. This suggests that the penetration depth of the radar signal, into the snow, varies with temperature. The results also show the potential for computing Arctic wide snow depth maps by combining measurements from laser and radar altimeters. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) Airborne scanning LiDAR is a spatial technology increasingly used for forestry and environmental applications. However, the accuracy and coverage of LiDAR observations is highly dependent on both the extrinsic specifications of the LiDAR survey as well as the intrinsic effects such as the underlying forest structure. Extrinsic parameters which are set as part of the LiDAR survey include platform altitude, scan angle (half max. angle off nadir), and beam cross sectional diameter at the reflecting surface (referred to as footprint size). In this paper we investigate the effect of a number of these extrinsic parameters, including three different platform altitudes (1000, 2000, and 3000 m), two scan angles at 1000 m (10° and 15° half max. angle off nadir), and three footprint sizes (0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 m). The comparison was undertaken in eucalypt forests at three sites, varying in vegetation structure and topography within the Wedding Bells State Forest, Coffs Harbour, Australia. Results at the plot scale (40 * 90 m areas) indicate that tree heights computed from the 1000 m LiDAR data set (10° half max. angle off nadir) are well correlated with maximum plot heights (difference 0.75, p Numéro de notice : A2006-320 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.rse.2006.03.003 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2006.03.003 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28044

[Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (Auteur) An geodesy study bas been carried out, using pre- and post-event Landsat-7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM +) images, to reveal regional co-seismic displacement caused by the Ms 8.1 Kunlun earthquake in November 2001. The two Landsat scenes, Kusai Lake and Buka Daban, cover an area of some 57600km (320km W-E and about 180km N-S), which includes most of the fault rupture zone. The co-seismic displacement measured in the Kusai Lake scene shows that the average left-lateral shift along the Kunlun fault is 4.8m (ranging from 1.5 to 8.1 m) and the maximum shift appears west of the Kusai Lake. The splayed nature of the fault to the west of Buka Daban, where the fault splits into three branches, causes the displacement pattern to become complicated. Here the average left-lateral shift, between the south side of the southern branch and the north side of the northern branch, is 4.6m (ranging from 1.0 to 8.2m). Our results also illustrate that the south side of the fault is the 'active' block, moving significantly in an east-south-easterly direction, relative to the largely 'stable' northern block.
