[Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a generative statistical approach to automatic 3D building roof reconstruction from airborne laser scanning point clouds. In previous works, bottom-up methods, e.g., points clustering, plane detection, and contour extraction, are widely used. Due to the data artefacts caused by tree clutter, reflection from windows, water features, etc., the bottom-up reconstruction in urban areas may suffer from a number of incomplete or irregular roof parts. Manually given geometric constraints are usually needed to ensure plausible results. In this work we propose an automatic process with emphasis on top-down approaches. The input point cloud is firstly pre-segmented into subzones containing a limited number of buildings to reduce the computational complexity for large urban scenes. For the building extraction and reconstruction in the subzones we propose a pure top-down statistical scheme, in which the bottom-up efforts or additional data like building footprints are no more required. Based on a predefined primitive library we conduct a generative modeling to reconstruct roof models that fit the data. Primitives are assembled into an entire roof with given rules of combination and merging. Overlaps of primitives are allowed in the assembly. The selection of roof primitives, as well as the sampling of their parameters, is driven by a variant of Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique with specified jump mechanism. Experiments are performed on data-sets of different building types (from simple houses, high-rise buildings to combined building groups) and resolutions. The results show robustness despite the data artefacts mentioned above and plausibility in reconstruction. [Termes IGN] varianceRésumé : (Auteur) The concept of outlier detection by statistical hypothesis testing in geodesy is briefly reviewed. The performance of such tests can only be measured or optimized with respect to a proper alternative hypothesis. Firstly, we discuss the important question whether gross errors should be treated as non-random quantities or as random variables. In the first case, the alternative hypothesis must be based on the common mean shift model, while in the second case, the variance inflation model is appropriate. Secondly, we review possible formulations of alternative hypotheses (inherent, deterministic, slippage, mixture) and discuss their implications. As measures of optimality of an outlier detection, we propose the premium and protection, which are briefly reviewed. Finally, we work out a practical example: the fit of a straight line. It demonstrates the impact of the choice of an alternative hypothesis for outlier detection. [Termes IGN] signature spectraleRésumé : (Auteur) A Metropolis-within-Gibbs sampler for piecewise convex hyperspectral unmixing and endmember extraction is presented. The standard linear mixing model used for hyperspectral unmixing assumes that hyperspectral data reside in a single convex region. However, hyperspectral data are often nonconvex. Furthermore, in standard endmember extraction and unmixing methods, endmembers are generally represented as a single point in the high-dimensional space. However, the spectral signature for a material varies as a function of the inherent variability of the material and environmental conditions. Therefore, it is more appropriate to represent each endmember as a full distribution and use this information during spectral unmixing. The proposed method searches for several sets of endmember distributions. By using several sets of endmember distributions, a piecewise convex mixing model is applied, and given this model, the proposed method performs spectral unmixing and endmember estimation given this nonlinear representation of the data. Each set represents a random simplex. The vertices of the random simplex are modeled by the endmember distributions. The hyperspectral data are partitioned into sets associated with each of the extracted sets of endmember distributions using a Dirichlet process prior. The Dirichlet process prior also estimates the number of sets. Thus, the Metropolis-within-Gibbs sampler partitions the data into convex regions, estimates the required number of convex regions, and estimates endmember distributions and abundance values for all convex regions. Results are presented on real hyperspectral and simulated data that indicate the ability of the method to effectively estimate endmember distributions and the number of sets of endmember distributions. It contains very-well-presented and simple mathematical descriptions of many of the most important algorithms used in computational physics. The first part of the book discusses the basic numerical methods. The second part concentrates on simulation of classical and quantum systems. Several classes of integration methods are discussed including not only the standard Euler and Runge Kutta method but also multi-step methods and the class of Verlet methods, which is introduced by studying the motion in Liouville space. A general chapter on the numerical treatment of differential equations provides methods of finite differences, finite volumes, finite elements and boundary elements together with spectral methods and weighted residual based methods. The book gives simple but non trivial examples from a broad range of physical topics trying to give the reader insight into not only the numerical treatment but also simulated problems. [Termes IGN] ondeletteRésumé : (Auteur) GOCO02S is a combined satellite-only geopotential model, regularized from degrees 180 to 250 of the expansion into spherical harmonics. To investigate the start of the regularization, the normal equations of GOCO02S have been used to compute additional geopotential models by regularizations beginning at degrees 160, 200, 220 and with no regularization. Three different methods are applied to determine where to start the regularization. The simplest one considers the decrease of the degree variances of the not regularized solution. The second one tests for the same solution the hypothesis that the square root of the degree variance is equal to the value computed by the estimated harmonic coefficients. If the hypothesis has to be rejected for a certain degree, the error degree variance is so large that the estimated harmonic coefficients cannot be trusted anymore so that the regularization has to start at that degree. The third method uses the density anomalies by which the disturbing potential is caused resulting from the geopotential model. The density anomalies are well suited to visualize the effects of the higher degree harmonics. In contrast to the base functions of the harmonic coefficients with global support, the density anomalies are expressed by a B-spline surface with local support. Multi-scale representations were applied and the hypotheses tested that the wavelet coefficients are equal to zero. Accepting the hypotheses means that nonsignificant wavelet coefficients were determined which lead to nonsignificant density anomalies. By comparing these anomalies for different regularizations, the degree where to start the regularization is determined. It turns out that beginning the regularization at degree 180, as was done for GOCO02S, is a correct choice.
