Moreover suitable methods and their basic experiments are discussed for several measuring problems. An investigation of visual aiming gives range and accuracy as well as defects and difficulties arising. Presuming the atmospheric darkening be characterized by reach of visibility, the maximum range can simply be taken from a graph. Then already before any measurement it may be predicted which objects can no more be seen at day but at night. The recorded range of visibility infers the time required for triangulation of a large territory from the maximum range ot a certain method.
The luminosity of environs and telescope qualities determine the maximum range of visibility. When observing over long distances, however, the angle of sight is only of little influence upon the maximum range of visibility. Objects, which can no more be seen by naked eyes can be observed by the theodolite Gtmir 27 (diameter of objective 60 cm, focal length 65 cm). Because of the greater luminosity of environs the maximum range of visi-bility at day is nearly half of the visibility at night.
The accuracy of visual picking up the aiming point strongly depends on conditions of observation and on observers, so that the average error of observation now and then varies considerably. Practically the accuracy of observation is limited by effects of atmospheric refractions. On account of these effects the measurement of angles takes up much time and money. The methods of picking up the aiming points by objective receivers may show important improvements with regard to the difficulties of visual aiming.
In order to decide if infrared aiming will increase the maximal range of visibility, investigations are made to what a degree the atmosphere is commonly more transparent for infrared than for visible light. It results that at good visibility equal candlepower and sensibility presumed at a wave length of 830 m µ the range of visibility is about 1,5 greater than with visible light.
For photoelectric aiming several methods are described, selecting the most suitable, and subsequently its properties are investigated with regard to local and temporal oscillations caused by refractions. When applying a slightly modificated method it is possible to eliminate the 'oscillations from the accuracy of recording. The frequency of light oscillations and the required accuracy are determining the electric time constant. In order to eliminate long periodic oscillations of light the expense of time for one measurement is considerable if high accuracy is required. High precision can be obtained without thereby decreasing the range of visibility. Such a device for high precision measurements, however, will be considerably extensive.
With visible light and high sensitive electron multipliers .nearly the same ranges of visibility are obtained as by visual aiming. Generally infrared aiming yields smaller ranges of visibility since receivers of infrared light have a rather high dark current. Photoelectrically picking up the aiming point at day-light will be out of discussion because of its high expense with the source of light.
The camera for photographic aiming can easily be constructed in such a way that observation accuracy will be better than by visual aiming. The accuracy of measuring is limited by fluctuations in density of the film. A photoelectric method to evaluate the film is described. In comparison with usual photometric proceedings the influence of fluctuations of density is decreased. The average error of evaluation shows that the accuracy of the photographic method is ten times that of visual observations even when considering light oscillations. The high observation accuracy enables investigations of long periodic and temporally constant effects of refraction. By photographic aiming a simple method of flare trilateration will be possible. Distances of targets from the observation station and accuracy of aiming will be of the same degree as with visual aiming.Numéro de notice : 36792 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Thèse étrangère Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=63755 Réservation
