[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) The use of geoportals facilitates access to reference topographic representations (IGN1, OSM2, etc.). In most cases, geoportals do not offer legend to users, thus impacting the interpretation and assimilation of visualised geographic information. Likewise, in some cases, particularly in border areas, geoportals provide heterogeneous representations of the territory that are difficult for users to interpret. In this context, the major challenge is to enrich the existing knowledge of cartographic design in order to produce easily interpretable cartographic representations that minimise the use of the legend. We propose a user-centred cartographic design model based on two key concepts: the visual signature and the cartographic family. These two concepts allow a map producer to design a map by taking into account the elements of legend learnt by users during their different cartographic experiences. In order to validate our model, we test it to design homogeneous cartographic representation at the Franco-Swiss border. [Termes IGN] réflectanceRésumé : (auteur) Helmholtz Stereopsis is a powerful technique for reconstruction of scenes with arbitrary reflectance properties. However, previous formulations have been limited to static objects due to the requirement to sequentially capture reciprocal image pairs (i.e. two images with the camera and light source positions mutually interchanged). In this paper, we propose colour Helmholtz Stereopsis—a novel framework for framework based on wavelength multiplexing. To address the new set of challenges introduced by multispectral data acquisition, the proposed Colour Helmholtz Stereopsis pipeline uniquely combines a tailored photometric calibration for multiple camera/light source pairs, a novel procedure for spatio-temporal surface chromaticity calibration and a state-of-the-art Bayesian formulation necessary for accurate reconstruction from a minimal number of reciprocal pairs. In this framework, reflectance is spatially unconstrained both in terms of its chromaticity and the directional component dependent on the illumination incidence and viewing angles. The proposed approach for the first time enables modelling of dynamic scenes with arbitrary unknown and spatially varying reflectance using a practical acquisition set-up consisting of a small number of cameras and light sources. Experimental results demonstrate the accuracy and flexibility of the technique on a variety of static and dynamic scenes with arbitrary unknown BRDF and chromaticity ranging from uniform to arbitrary and spatially varying. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (Auteur) Color palettes are widely used by artists to define colors of artworks and explore color designs. In general, artists select the colors of a palette by following a set of rules, e.g. contrast or relative luminance. Existing interactive palette exploration tools explore palette spaces following limited constraints defined as geometric configurations in color space e.g. harmony rules on the color wheel. Palette search algorithms sample palettes from color relations learned from an input dataset, however they cannot provide interactive user edits and palette refinement. We introduce in this work a new versatile formulation enabling the creation of constraint-based interactive palette exploration systems. Our technical contribution is a graph-based palette representation, from which we define palette exploration as a minimization problem that can be solved efficiently and provide real-time feedback. Based on our formulation, we introduce two interactive palette exploration strategies: constrained palette exploration, and for the first time, constrained palette interpolation. We demonstrate the performances of our approach on various application cases and evaluate how it helps users finding trade-offs between concurrent constraints. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (Auteur) Graphic interfaces of geoportals allow visualizing and overlaying various (visually) heterogeneous geographical data, often by image blending: vector data, maps, aerial imagery, Digital Terrain Model, etc. Map design and geo-visualization may benefit from methods and tools to hybrid, i.e. visually integrate, heterogeneous geographical data and cartographic representations. In this paper, we aim at designing continuous hybrid visualizations between ortho-imagery and symbolized vector data, in order to control a particular visual property, i.e. the photo-realism perception. The natural appearance (colors, textures) and various texture effects are used to drive the control the photo-realism level of the visualization: color and texture interpolation blocks have been developed. We present a global design method that allows to manipulate the behavior of those interpolation blocks on each type of geographical layer, in various ways, in order to provide various cartographic continua. [Termes IGN] vision binoculaireRésumé : (éditeur) Focusing on recent advances in analytical techniques, this third edition of Andrew Duchowski’s successful guide has been revised and extended. It includes new chapters on calibration accuracy, precision and correction; advanced eye movement analysis; binocular eye movement analysis; practical gaze analytics; eye movement synthesis. Eye Tracking Methodology opens with useful background information, including an introduction to the human visual system and key issues in visual perception and eye movement. The author then surveys eye-tracking devices and provides a detailed introduction to the technical requirements necessary for installing a system and developing an application program. Modern programming examples (in Python) are included and the author outlines the gaze analytics pipeline, a step-by-step data processing sequence from raw data to statistical analysis. Focusing on the use of modern video-based, corneal-reflection eye trackers – the most widely available and affordable types of systems, Andrew Duchowski takes a look at a number of interesting and challenging applications in human factors, collaborative systems, virtual reality, marketing and advertising. His primary focus is on methodology, and how analysis of eye movements can enhance research and development of anything that is inspected visually.
