[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) An important area of research in marine information systems is the management and analysis of the large and increasing amount maritime spatio-temporal datasets. There are a lack of systems that may provide visualization and clustering techniques for large spatiotemporal datasets (Oliveira, 2012). This thesis describes the design and implementation of a prototype web-based system for visualizing, computing statistics, and detecting outliers of moving vessels over a massive set of historic AIS data from the Aegean Sea in the Mediterranean. This historic AIS data was acquired from the Marine Traffic project (Marine Traffic, 2014) which collects the raw location points of the vessels. The web-based system provides the following functionalities: (i) user interface to upload the location points of vessels into a database, (ii) detailed and simplified trajectory construction of the uploaded location points of vessels, (iii) distance, speed, direction, and turn angle computation of the constructed trajectories, (iv) identify vessels that intersect the European Union’s Natura 2000 protected areas, (v) identify spatio-temporal outliers in the location points of vessels using DBSCAN algorithm, and (vi) heat map visualization to show the traffic load and highlight sea zones of high risk. The architecture of the web-based system employed is based on open standards, and allows for interoperable data access. The system was implemented using PHP as the server-side scripting language, and Google Maps API as the client-side scripting language. Furthermore, improved system responsiveness, and server performance was achieved by asynchronous interaction between client and server by utilizing AJAX to send and receive requests. In addition, data transfer between client and server was achieved using the platform-independent and light weight JSON format. [Termes IGN] trajectoire (véhicule non spatial)Résumé : (auteur) In order to test a preliminary orbit determination method, we fit an orbit of the geostationary satellite TELECOM-2D, as if we did not know any a priori information on its trajectory. The method is based on a genetic algorithm coupled to an analytical propagator of the trajectory, that is used over a couple of days, and that uses a whole set of altazimutal data that are acquired by the tracking network made up of the two TAROT telescopes. The adjusted orbit is then compared to a numerical reference. The method is described, and the results are analyzed, as a step towards an operational method of preliminary orbit determination for uncatalogued objects. [Termes IGN] trajectographie (positionnement)Résumé : (Auteur) The COSMIC-2 mission is a follow-on mission of the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate (COSMIC) with an upgraded payload for improved radio occultation (RO) applications. The objective of this paper is to develop a near-real-time (NRT) orbit determination system, called NRT National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) system, to support COSMIC-2 in atmospheric applications and verify the orbit product of COSMIC. The system is capable of automatic determinations of the NRT GPS clocks and LEO orbit and clock. To assess the NRT (NCTU) system, we use eight days of COSMIC data (March 24-31, 2011), which contain a total of 331 GPS observation sessions and 12 393 RO observable files. The parallel scheduling for independent GPS and LEO estimations and automatic time matching improves the computational efficiency by 64% compared to the sequential scheduling. Orbit difference analyses suggest a 10-cm accuracy for the COSMIC orbits from the NRT (NCTU) system, and it is consistent as the NRT University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (URCA) system. The mean velocity accuracy from the NRT orbits of COSMIC is 0.168 mm/s, corresponding to an error of about 0.051 urad in the bending angle. The rms differences in the NRT COSMIC clock and in GPS clocks between the NRT (NCTU) and the postprocessing products are 3.742 and 1.427 ns. The GPS clocks determined from a partial ground GPS network [from NRT (NCTU)] and a full one [from NRT (UCAR)] result in mean rms frequency stabilities of 6.1E-12 and 2.7E-12, respectively, corresponding to range fluctuations of 5.5 and 2.4 cm and bending angle errors of 3.75 and 1.66 urad . [Termes IGN] navigation maritimeRésumé : (Auteur) Defining a model for the representation and the analysis of spatio-temporal dynamics remains an open domain in geographical information sciences. In this article we investigate a spatio-temporal graph-based model dedicated to managing and extracting sets of geographical entities related in space and time. The approach is based on spatial and temporal local relations between neighboring entities during consecutive times. The model allows us to extract sets of connected entities distant in time and space over long periods and large spaces. From GIS concepts and qualitative reasoning on space and time, we combine the graph model with a dedicated spatial database. It includes information on geometry and geomorphometric parameters, and on spatial and temporal relations. This allows us to extend classical measurements of spatial parameters, with comparisons of entities linked by complex relations in space and time. As a case study, we show how the model suggests an efficient representation of dunes dynamics on a nautical chart for safe navigation.
