[Termes IGN] SIG 3DRésumé : (auteur) The level of detail (LOD) of a 3D city model indicates the model’s grade and usability. However, there exist multiple valid variants of each LOD. As a consequence, the LOD concept is inconclusive as an instruction for the acquisition of 3D city models. For instance, the top surface of an LOD1 block model may be modelled at the eaves of a building or at its ridge height. Such variants, which we term geometric references, are often overlooked and are usually not documented in the metadata. Furthermore, the influence of a particular geometric reference on the performance of a spatial analysis is not known.
In response to this research gap, we investigate a variety of LOD1 and LOD2 geometric references that are commonly employed, and perform numerical experiments to investigate their relative difference when used as input for different spatial analyses. We consider three use cases (estimation of the area of the building envelope, building volume, and shadows cast by buildings), and compute the deviations in a Monte Carlo simulation.
The experiments, carried out with procedurally generated models, indicate that two 3D models representing the same building at the same LOD, but modelled according to different geometric references, may yield substantially different results when used in a spatial analysis. The outcome of our experiments also suggests that the geometric reference may have a bigger influence than the LOD, since an LOD1 with a specific geometric reference may yield a more accurate result than when using LOD2 models.Numéro de notice : A2016-577 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2016.03.003 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2016.03.003 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=81709

[Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (auteur) In 2014 the surveying and mapping administration of North Rhine-Westphalia (Geobasis NRW, located at the Cologne Government Regional Office) provided, for the first time, a statewide national 3D-building model in the level of detail 2 (LoD2: integrated standardized roof forms). It consists of 10 million buildings. The whole derivation process was fully automatized using available reference data of the cadastre and airborne laser scan measurements.
After this first derivation of the 3D-building model, additional tasks are necessary to handle existing errors. Buildings are interactively corrected by the use of oriented aerial pictures. These changes are stored in the data base of the 3D-building model.

[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (Auteur) This article presents the first results concerning the development and implementation of a tool for the estimation of the energy performance for residential buildings at city scale. Space heating and domestic hot water production are taken into account. Project “EnerCity” focuses on two main topics: (a) the creation of a CityGML-compliant 3D city model from sub-optimal datasets and (b) its adoption as information hub to develop energy-related assessment tools. A part of the city of Trento, in northern Italy, was chosen as the case study area for testing purposes; however, the methodology was developed to be extended to the whole city. Only publicly available data were used. The energy demand calculation method is based on the Italian Technical Specifications UNI/TS 11300:2008. For each building, the primary energy demand for space heating and domestic hot water production, as well as the resulting energy performance index, are estimated. In order to characterise the buildings, heterogeneous datasets (cadastral data, statistical data, etc.) were harmonised and integrated. All residential buildings were successively classified into distinct building types according to the criteria defined for Italy in the European project “Tabula”. The developed tool allows for data visualisation, editing as well as interactive refurbishment of the buildings. The article describes all relevant steps of the project and discusses possible enhancements and the future improvements. [Termes IGN] spécification de produitRésumé : (auteur) The federal governments of Germany endeavour to create a harmonized 3D building data set based on a common application schema (the AdV-CityGML-Profile). In a joint research project, the Bavarian Agency for Digitisation, High-Speed Internet and Surveying and the TUM, Chair of Geoinformatics, transformed an AdV-CityGML-Profile based test data set of Bavarian LoD2 building models into an INSPIRE-compliant schema. For the purpose of a transformation of such kind, the AdV provides the data specification, a test plan for 3D building models and a mapping table. The research project examined whether the transformation rules defined in the mapping table were unambiguous and sufficient for implementing a transformation of LoD2 data based on the AdV-CityGML-Profile into the INSPIRE schema. The proof of concept was carried out by transforming production data of the Bavarian 3D building model in LoD2 into the INSPIRE BU schema. In order to assure the quality of the data to be transformed the test specifications according to the test plan for 3D building models of the AdV were carried out. The AdV mapping table was checked for completeness and correctness and amendments were made accordingly. [Termes IGN] UMLRésumé : (Auteur) The interoperability of geographic data sets is required between geo-information system applications to use geographic data sets effectively. Thus, international standardisation organisation/technical committee 211 standards supporting model-driven architecture were examined to test the ability of producing interoperable geographic data sets. With Turkey case, unified modelling language application schemas were designed for base geographic data themes and encoded to data interchange model based on geography markup language. To test the applicability of the open data models, extract-transform-load (ETL) tools were developed and applied for case applications such as topographic map and web urban atlas. This study gives a methodology and indicates that ETL tools should be created to enable multiple uses of geo-data sets without spending time and labour. However, data model design should be refined and kept as simple as possible because data transformation is laborious to use the models in the applications.
