In this richly illustrated book, Laura Vaughan examines maps of ethnic or religious difference, poverty, and health inequalities, demonstrating how they not only serve as historical records of social enquiry, but also constitute inscriptions of social patterns that have been etched deeply on the surface of cities. The book covers themes such as the use of visual rhetoric to change public opinion, the evolution of sociology as an academic practice, changing attitudes to physical disorder, and the complexity of segregation as an urban phenomenon. While the focus is on historical maps, the narrative carries the discussion of the spatial dimensions of social cartography forward to the present day, showing how disciplines such as public health, crime science, and urban planning, chart spatial data in their current practice. [Termes IGN] tour (bâtiment)Résumé : (Auteur) Les stages de terrain forment les étudiants de l'ENSG non seulement à la pratique des technologies de topométrie, de photogrammétrie, de lasergrammétrie, de télédétection mais, plus généralement, à toutes les étapes de la réalisation d'un lever architectural : planification et réalisation des acquisitions au niveau de qualité nécessaire et dans le respect des règles de sécurité et de civisme, traitements, analyse critique des calculs, production des modèles 3D et de jeux de données dérivés conformes à des spécifications. Ces étapes vont jusqu'à inclure la présentation des résultats aux commanditaires des levers - lesquels, bien souvent, ne sont pas seulement les enseignants, mais, en premier lieu, les responsables du patrimoine qui ont ouvert l'accès de leur site à nos étudiants. Notre communication présentera quelques levers architecturaux récents (château de Chambord, église Saint-Ours de Loches, forteresse de Murol...). Elle illustrera surtout, par des exemples, le potentiel de créativité qu’induisent la concentration des activités et l'intensité de la réflexion critique des étudiants et de leurs encadrants lorsqu’ils sont confrontés aux difficultés du terrain et aux limites des instruments et des logiciels. Les questions des étudiants, en effet, se transforment bien souvent, grâce aux mécanismes d'interaction enseignement-recherche, en sujets de réflexion, de développement, de recherche. [Termes IGN] INSPIRERésumé : (Auteur) In 2016, the INSPIRE Conference hosted the first INSPIRE hackathon on volunteered geographic information and citizen observatories, also known as the INSPIRE Hackathon. The organisers, mostly representatives of European research and innovation projects, continued this activity with the next INSPIRE Conference in 2017. The INSPIRE Hackathon is a collaborative event for developers, researchers, designers and others interested in open data, volunteered geographic information and citizen observatories. The main driving force for the INSPIRE Hackathon is provided by experts from existing EU projects, and its primary objective is to share knowledge and experience between the participants and demonstrate to wider audiences the power of data and information supported by modern technologies and common standards, originating from INSPIRE, Copernicus, GEOSS and other initiatives. This paper describes the history and background of the INSPIRE Hackathon, the various INSPIRE-related hackathons already organised, supporting projects, the results of INSPIRE Hackathon 2017 and the authors’ vision of future activities. [Termes IGN] visualisation 4DRésumé : (auteur) Ce projet de fin d’études s’inscrit dans une démarche de restitution archéologique portant sur le château du Kagenfels. Cet édifice est situé dans le département du Bas-Rhin, proche d’Obernai dans les Vosges, plus précisément sur la partie Ouest de la commune d’Ottrott dans la forêt d’Obernai-Bernardswiller. La démarche entreprise au cours de ce projet de fin d’études consistait à pouvoir proposer une restitution virtuelle datée de ce château et de son environnement par le croisement de l’existant et d’hypothèses archéologiques. Cela a été envisagé à des fins de conservation mais également en vue d’une opération de médiation scientifique. En nous basant sur la configuration actuelle de l’édifice et tous les documents archéologiques mis à notre disposition, nous avons entrepris une démarche d’interprétation et de restitution virtuelle de cet édifice. Pour ce faire, nous nous sommes tout d’abord interrogés sur les outils que nous pourrions utiliser pour répondre au cahier des charges en prenant en compte les exigences de chacun et les contraintes pouvant nous limiter. Ensuite, dans l’optique d’aboutir à une représentation exhaustive et précise de l’édifice, ont pu être croisées des technologies modernes propres au domaine de la topographie et des hypothèses découlant des écrits restituant tous les travaux archéologiques déjà enregistrés sur le chantier ainsi que sur d’autres sites alentours comparables en terme d’architecture et de date de construction. Cette dernière partie était bien sûr plus du ressort de M. Heissler. C’est pourquoi, il est très important de mettre en avant la démarche collaborative dans laquelle s’inscrit ce projet. Nous pouvons également mettre en avant l’aspect multidisciplinaire de ces travaux. En effet, pour répondre à tous les besoins que comporte ce projet, il a été important de développer des compétences transversales quitte à parfois diverger de la topographie classique. [Termes IGN] traitement de semis de pointsIndex. décimale : PROJET Mémoires : Rapports de projet - stage des ingénieurs de 2e année Résumé : (auteur) Durant le cadre de ce stage de 10,5 semaines, j’ai appris à manipuler les différentes géotechnologies utilisées par le groupe TIDOP dans le cadre de la conservation préventive du patrimoine historique et culturel, en particulier au service du projet sud-européen HeritageCARE. L’objectif était d’aider dans le travail d’acquisition et de traitement le groupe de recherche TIDOP, basé à Avila en Espagne. Il fallait réunir les données traitant des monuments dont le groupe avait la charge. Cela est passé par la réalisation de panoramiques et de nuages de points 3D, tout ceci au service de visites virtuelles permettant de décrire chaque monument. Il a donc fallu apprendre à maîtriser les géotechnologies utilisées, afin d’avoir le savoir-faire nécessaire à construire à partir d’un appareil photo et du logiciel Hugin des panoramiques de qualité associées aux monuments à l’étude. Il a fallu également apprendre à s’adapter à la situation concernant les nombreux logiciels de traitement de nuages de points, leurs atouts et leurs faiblesses. Dans ce rapport, on montrera aussi des tentatives d’optimisation des prises de vue ou de la coloration des nuages de points, ces techniques originales fonctionnant plus ou moins bien. Durant la période du stage, plusieurs monuments ont reçu une visite virtuelle associée, notamment la muraille d’Avila et l’université de Salamanque.
