[Termes IGN] traitement de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) Laser scanning does not provide unlimited geometrical accuracy and integrity when scanning complex objects. Scanning systems have a minimum and maximum range in which they operate, depending on the technical characteristics. Scanning below or above these limits results in gross errors and registering of incorrect data. Laser scanners can have difficulties with certain materials such as marble and reflective surfaces. This paper presents the results of laser scanning of a complex monument of cultural and historical heritage using two different types of terrestrial laser scanners. Afterwards, the comparison and analysis of the results are shown. The scanners used were terrestrial laser scanners Faro Focus 3D (phase mode distance measurements) and STONEX X300 (pulse mode distance measurements). [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (auteur) Building-information-modeling for cultural heritage (HBIM), which is established using surveying data, can be used to conserve architectural heritage. The development of an HBIM model for ancient wooden architecture (AWA) structures requires interdisciplinary integration. A parametric model for the main components that intelligently integrates the historical knowledge, as well as an intelligent modeling method for these components, are two critical issues required to bridge the existing gap and improve the application of HBIM. Taking an AWA structure constructed during the Liao and Song Dynasties as an example, the parametric model for the typical components, with emphasis on commonality and characteristics, were first proposed. Subsequently, an intelligent automated modeling method was developed and programmed using Dynamo, which can intelligently identify the component type and determine the invisible dimensions. A complicated dou-gong was successfully established with surveying data using the proposed method within five minutes, thereby validating the reliability and efficiency of this method. Furthermore, the proposed method was used to establish the HBIM model of Yingxian Wood Pagoda, which is the oldest and tallest AWA structure in China with a height of 65.88 m. The research findings will provide an essential reference for the conservation of wooden architectural heritage structures. [Termes IGN] web sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) are a key asset for Europe. This paper concentrates on unsolved issues in SDIs in Europe related to the management of semantic heterogeneities. It studies contributions and competences from two communities in this field: cartographers, authoritative data providers, and geographic information scientists on the one hand, and computer scientists working on the Web of Data on the other. During several workshops organized by the EuroSDR and Eurogeographics organizations, the authors analyzed their complementarity and discovered reasons for the difficult collaboration between these communities. They have different and sometimes conflicting perspectives on what successful SDIs should look like, as well as on priorities. We developed a proposal to integrate both perspectives, which is centered on the elaboration of an open European Geographical Knowledge Graph. Its structure reuses results from the literature on geographical information ontologies. It is associated with a multifaceted roadmap addressing interrelated aspects of SDIs. [Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (auteur) Open government promises increased transparency by providing its citizens datasets about city processes. Open data portals have been emerging all over the world as mines of open geographic datasets. Thematic web maps are key to understanding these open geographic datasets. Current thematic web maps are created by programmers and/or cartographers, and thus are not designed to be easily reused with new geographic datasets. As a result, they pose several challenges to non-experts wanting to adapt them to new scenarios. This article introduces a semi-automatic approach for the creation of thematic web maps by and for users with no prior training in cartography. The approach relies on the mapping between Stevens’ data types and Bertin’s visual variables, to suggest (meaningful) thematic map visualizations for a given input geographic dataset. It was implemented as a web prototype in AngularJS and evaluated with 19 participants. Results from the user study suggest that despite facing a few challenges in accurately identifying Stevens’ data types, participants managed to successfully create web maps and correctly answer spatial questions. The prototype and insights gathered from the user study are relevant to making cartographic products more accessible to a broader population, and open geographic data more usable in the context of an open government.
