[Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (auteur) Fusion of very high spatial resolution multispectral (VHR) images and lower spatial resolution image time series with more spectral bands can improve land cover classification’ combining geometric and semantic advantages of both sources. This study presents a workflow to extract the extent of urban areas using decision-level fusion of individual classifications on Sentine12 (S2) and SPOT6 satellite images. First, both sources are classified individually in five classes, using state-of-the-art supervised classification approaches and Convolutional Neural Networks. Obtained results are merged in order to extract buildings as accurately as possible. Then, detected buildings are merged again with the S2 classification to extract urban area; a prior to be in an urban area is derived from these building objects and merged with a binary classification derived from the original S2 classification. Both fusions involve a per pixel decision level fusion followed by a contrast sensitive regularization. [Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) Remote sensing data utilize valuable information via various satellite sensors that have different specifications. Image fusion allows the user to combine different spatial and spectral resolutions to improve the information for purposes such as forest monitoring and land cover mapping. In this study, I assessed the contribution of dual-polarized Advanced Land Observing Satellite/Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar data to multispectral Landsat imagery. The research investigated the separability of forested areas using different image fusion techniques. Quality analysis of the fused images was conducted using qualitative and quantitative analyses. I applied the support vector machine image classification method for land cover mapping. Among all methods examined, the à trous wavelet transform method best differentiated the forested area with an overall accuracy (OA) of 94.316%, while Landsat had an OA of 92.626%. The findings of this study indicated that optical-SAR-fused images improve land cover classification, which results in higher quality forest inventory data and mapping. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) The objective of this research was to investigate the impact of seasonality on urban land-cover mapping and to explore better classification accuracy by using multi-season Sentinel-1A and GF-1 wide field view (WFV) images, and the combinations of both types of images in subtropical monsoon-climate regions in Southeast China. We obtained multi-season Sentinel-1A and GF-1 WFV images, as well as the combinations of both data, by using a support vector machine (SVM) and a random forest (RF) classifier. The backscatter intensity, texture, and interference-coherence images were extracted from Sentinel-1A images, and different combinations of these Sentinel-1A-derived images were used to evaluate their ability to map urban land cover. The results showed that the performance of winter images was better than that of any other season, while the summer images performed the worst. Higher classification accuracy was achieved by using multi-season images, and satisfactory classification results were obtained when using Sentinel-1A images from only three seasons. The best classification result was achieved using a combination of all Sentinel-1A data from all four seasons and GF-1 WFV data from winter, with an overall accuracy of up to 96.02% and a kappa coefficient reaching 0.9502. The performance of textures was slightly better than that of the backscatter-intensity images. Although the coherence data performed the worst, it was still able to distinguish urban impervious surfaces well. In addition, the overall classification accuracy of RF was better than that of SVM.
