[Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we propose a generic framework for watertight mesh generation with uncertainties that provides a confidence measure on each reconstructed mesh triangle. Its input is a set of vision-based or Lidar-based 3D measurements which are converted to a set of mass functions that characterize the level of confidence on the occupancy of the scene as occupied, empty or unknown based on Dempster-Shafer Theory. The output is a multi-label segmentation of the ambient 3D space expressing the confidence for each resulting volume element to be occupied or empty. While existing methods either sacrifice watertightness (local methods) or need to introduce a smoothness prior (global methods), we derive a per-triangle confidence measure that is able to gradually characterize when the resulting surface patches are certain due to dense and coherent measurements and when these patches are more uncertain and are mainly present to ensure smoothness and/or watertightness. The surface mesh reconstruction is formulated as a global energy minimization problem efficiently optimized with the α-expansion algorithm. We claim that the resulting confidence measure is a good estimate of the local lack of sufficiently dense and coherent input measurements, which would be a valuable input for the next-best-view scheduling of a complementary acquisition.
Beside the new formulation, the proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art results on surface reconstruction benchmark. It is robust to noise, manages high scale disparity and produces a watertight surface with a small Hausdorff distance in uncertainty area thanks to the multi-label formulation. By simply thresholding the result, the method shows a good reconstruction quality compared to local algorithms on high density data. A DTM is a mathematical representation (model) of the ground surface, most often in the form of a regular grid, in which a unique elevation value is assigned to each pixel. Thus, objects, including permanent off-ground components such as vegetation and buildings, can be detected. Fusion of images: SEM allows us to acquire images from a given sample using different modalities. The purpose of these studies is to analyze the interest of fusion of information to improve the multimodal SEM images acquisition. We have modeled
and implemented various techniques of image fusion of information, based in
particular on spatial regression theory. They have been assessed on various
datasets.
Spatial classification of multivariate image pixels: We have proposed a novel approach for pixel classification in multi/hyperspectral images. The aim of this technique is to represent and efficiently describe the spatial/spectral features of multivariate images. These multi-scale deep descriptors aim at representing the content of the image while considering invariances related to the texture and to its geometric transformations.

[Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (auteur) In this article, a new morphing method is proposed for two linear features at different scales, based on their entire structures (MLBES in abbreviation). First, the bend structures of the linear features are identified by using a constrained Delaunay triangulation (CDT in abbreviation) model and represented by binary bend-structure trees. By matching the independent bends represented by the bend-structure trees, corresponding independent bends are obtained. These corresponding independent bends are further used to match their child bends based on hierarchical bend structures so that corresponding bends are obtained. On this basis, the two linear features are split into pairs of corresponding subpolylines by the start and end points of the corresponding bends. Second, structures of the corresponding subpolylines are identified by the Douglas-Peucker algorithm and represented by binary line generalization trees (BLG-trees in abbreviation). The corresponding subpolylines are split into smaller corresponding subpolylines by matching the nodes of the BLG-trees. Third, the corresponding points are identified by using the linear interpolation algorithm for every pair of corresponding subpolylines. Finally, straight-line trajectories are employed to generate a family of intermediate-scale linear features. By comparison with other methods, it is found that MLBES is accurate and efficient. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Auteur) The TanDEM-X mission (TDM) is a spaceborne radar interferometer which delivers a global digital surface model (DSM) with an unprecedented spatial resolution. This allows resolving objects above ground such as buildings. Extracting and characterizing those objects in an automated manner represents a challenging problem but opens simultaneously a broad range of large-area applications. In this paper, we discuss and evaluate the suitability of morphological filters (MFs) for the derivation of normalized DSMs from the TDM in complex urban environments and introduce a novel region-growing-based progressive MF procedure. This approach is jointly proposed and can be combined with a postclassification processing scheme to specifically allow for a viable reconstruction of urban morphology in a challenging terrain. The filter approach comprises a multistep procedure using concepts of morphological image filtering, region growing, and interpolation techniques. Therefore, it extends the idea of progressive MFs. The latter aim to identify nonground pixels in the DSM by gradually increasing the size of a structuring element and applying iteratively an elevation difference threshold. After the identification of initial nonground pixels, here, potential nonground pixels are identified within each iteration, and their similarity with respect to neighboring nonground pixels is assessed. Pixels are finally labeled as nonground if a constraint is fulfilled. The postclassification processing scheme adapts techniques of object-based image analyses to further refine regions of classified nonground pixels. Digital terrain models are subsequently generated by interpolating between identified ground pixels. Experimental results are obtained for settlement areas that cover large parts of the cities of Izmir (Turkey) and Wuppertal (Germany). They confirm the capability of the proposed approaches for a reduction of omission errors compared to basic MF-based methods when classifying ground pixe- s, which is favorable in a mountainous terrain with steep slopes.
