[Termes IGN] taxinomieRésumé : (auteur) Geospatial services with different functions are assembled together to solve complex problems. Different taxonomies are developed to categorize these services into classes. As differences in granularity and semantics exist among these taxonomies, the identification of services across different taxonomies has become a challenge. In this paper, an approach to identify geospatial services across heterogeneous taxonomies is proposed. Using formal concept analysis, existing heterogeneous taxonomies are decomposed into semantic factors and their various combinations. With these semantic factors, a super taxonomy is established to integrate the original heterogeneous taxonomies. Finally, with the super taxonomy as a cross-referencing system, geospatial services with classes in original taxonomies are identifiable across taxonomies. Experiments in service registries and a social media-based spatial-temporal analysis project are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of this approach. [Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) Key message: In the open-field warming experiment using infrared heaters, 3 °C warming affected soil respiration more in the deciduous Quercus variabilis Blume plot than in the evergreen Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. plot, but did not affect the plant biomass in either species.
Context: Understanding the species-specific responses of belowground carbon processes to warming is essential for the accurate prediction of forest carbon cycles in ecosystems affected by future climate change.
Aims: This study aimed to investigate the effect of experimental warming on soil CO2 efflux, soil-air CO2 concentration, and plant biomass for two taxonomically different temperate tree species.
Methods: Experimental warming was conducted in an open-field planted with Q. variabilis and P. densiflora seedlings. Infrared heaters increased the air temperature by 3 °C in the warmed plots compared with the air temperature in the control plots over a 2-year period.
Results: The increase in air and soil temperature stimulated soil CO2 efflux by 29 and 22 % for the Q. variabilis and P. densiflora plots, respectively. Seasonal variation in the warming effect on soil CO2 efflux was species-specific. Soil CO2 efflux was also positively related to both soil temperature and soil water content. The soil moisture deficit decreased the difference in soil CO2 efflux between the control and warmed plots. Warming did not affect soil CO2 concentration and plant biomass in either species; however, the mean soil CO2 concentration was positively correlated with root and total biomass.
Conclusion: Warming increased soil CO2 efflux in both Q. variabilis and P. densiflora plots, while the increase showed remarkable seasonal variations and different magnitudes for the two species.

[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Automation of the cartographic design process is central to the delivery of bespoke maps via the web. In this paper, ontological modeling is used to explicitly represent and articulate the knowledge used in this decision-making process. A use case focuses on the visualization of road traffic accident data as a way of illustrating how ontologies provide a framework by which salient and contextual information can be integrated in a meaningful manner. Such systems are in anticipation of web-based services in which the user knows what they need, but do not have the cartographic ability to get what they want. [Termes IGN] taxinomieRésumé : (Auteur) As an intermediate category between metric and topology, directional relations are as much varied as “right of”, “before”, “between”, “in front of”, “back”, “north of”, “east of”, and so on. Directional relations are ambiguous if taken alone without the contextual information described by frames of reference. In this paper, we identify a unifying framework for directional relations and frames of reference, which shows how a directional relation with its associated frame of reference can be mapped to a projective relation of the 5-intersection model. We discuss how this knowledge can be integrated in spatial query languages. [Termes IGN] taxinomieRésumé : (Auteur) With the development of the Internet and GIS, large volumes of spatial data and powerful computing resources are increasingly published in the form of Web services. Given the variety and number of geospatial services advertised online, finding appropriate geospatial services has become a tremendous challenge for potential users. Geospatial service classification provides a basis for developing matching criteria to improve the efficiency of service discovery. At present, most classification-based matching methods require users to provide classification descriptions using a specified taxonomy. These requirements seriously limit the application of classification-based matching. To solve these kinds of problems, this article presents a hybrid geospatial service classification-matching method. Based on the differences in classification descriptions, three strategies are proposed: (1) the existing classification matching method is used for requests with classifications described using homogeneous taxonomies; (2) a formal-concept-analysis-based service classification matching method is proposed for service requests with classifications described using heterogeneous taxonomies; and (3) an interface-similarity-based service classification decision method is proposed for requests without classification descriptions. The feasibility of the hybrid geospatial service classification matching method is verified by two sets of experiments. The results reveal that this method can effectively broaden the application of classification-based matching in geospatial service discovery.
