[Termes IGN] zone d'intérêtRésumé : (auteur) Image mosaicking is a process during which multiple orthoimages are combined into a single seamless composite orthoimage. One of the most difficult steps in the automatic mosaicking of orthoimages is the seamline determination. This paper presents a novel algorithm that selects seamlines based on marker-based watershed segmentation. A representative seamline is extracted at the object level and the pixel level as follows. First, a watershed segmentation is performed to obtain the objects. To avoid over-segmentation, a regional adaptive marker-based watershed segmentation is proposed. Second, the object difference estimated by the correlation coefficient of each object is calculated, and the region adjacency matrix is built. Third, a technique for minimizing the maximum object cost is adopted to determine the objects through which the seamlines pass. Finally, pixel-level optimization is performed using Dijkstra's algorithm with a binary min-heap to determine the final seamlines. The experimental results on digital aerial orthoimages in different areas demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method compared with other algorithms. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser mobileRésumé : (auteur) Laser scanning techniques have been widely used to capture three-dimensional (3D) point clouds of various scenes (e.g. urban scenes). In particular, airborne laser scanning (ALS) and mobile laser scanning (MLS), terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) are effective to capture point clouds from top or side view. Registering the complimentary point clouds captured by ALS and MLS/TLS provides an aligned data source for many purposes (e.g. 3D reconstruction). Among these MLS can be directly geo-referenced to ALS according to the equipped position systems. For small scanning areas or dense building areas, TLS is used instead of MLS. However, registering ALS and TLS datasets suffers from poor automation and robustness because of few overlapping areas and sparse corresponding geometric features. A robust method for the registration of TLS and ALS datasets is proposed, which has four key steps. (1) extracts building outlines from TLS and ALS data sets independently; (2) obtains the potential matching pairs of outlines according to the geometric constraints between building outlines; (3) constructs the Laplacian matrices of the extracted building outlines to model the topology between the geometric features; (4) calculates the correlation coefficients of the extracted geometric features by decomposing the Laplacian matrices into the spectral space, providing correspondences between the extracted features for coarse registration. Finally, the multi-line adjustment strategy is employed for the fine registration. The robustness and accuracy of the proposed method are verified using field data, demonstrating a reliable and stable solution to accurately register ALS and TLS datasets. [Termes IGN] réflectance spectraleRésumé : (auteur) After atmospheric correction, an algorithm for the removal of thin cirrus cloud as well as alto-thin clouds or thin clouds collectively within visible and near infrared bands (Bands 1 through 5) of Landsat-8 was developed. The algorithm removed cirrus clouds using Band 9 first, and the remaining thin clouds using quality assurance (QA) band. Using a Landsat-8 sub-image of 129/39 (path/row) acquired on 16 December 2013, we evaluated the algorithm. Thin clouds disappeared visually. Reflectance values of Bands 1 through 4 decreased in both steps. Reflectance values of Band 5 decreased in step one, and then stayed the same. With a nearly cloud-free image acquired on 30 November 2013 as the “truth,” the spatial correlation coefficients of cloud-covered pixels within the December image were 0.84 or higher. Changes in reflectance values of Bands 1 to 5, and the high correlation coefficient values indicated the validity of the algorithm. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (Auteur) Accuracy assessment of classified imagery is an important task in remote sensing. Various measures have been developed to describe and compare the accuracy of maps and the performance of different classifiers, but the extent to which these measures are consistent with each other is largely unknown. In this paper the consistency of fourteen category-level and twenty map-level accuracy measures was tested on 595 published error matrices using nonparametric correlation coefficients (Spearman's rho and Kendall's tau-b) as well as the probability of concordance. The results show that four groups can be identified for the category-level measures and three groups for map-level measures. The consistency among the measures within a group is generally higher than that among the measures from different groups though all the measures at the same level are highly consistent with each other. We recommend that user's accuracy and producer's accuracy and the overall accuracy should be provided as primary accuracy measures and the two relative entropy change measures and the mutual information normalized by the arithmetic mean of the entropies on map and ground truthing be provided as supplementary measures. The chance-corrected, error matrix-normalized and user's and producer's accuracy-combined measures were found to contain estimation and interpretation problems at both category- and map-levels and are therefore not recommended for general use.
