[Termes IGN] objet géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) When integrating geo-spatial data sets, a join algorithm is used for finding sets of corresponding objects (i.e., objects that represent the same real-world entity). This article investigates location-based join algorithms for integration of several data sets. First, algorithms for integration of two data sets are presented and their performances, in terms of recall and precision, are compared. Then, two approaches for integration of more than two data sets are described. In one approach, all the integrated data sets are processed simultaneously. In the second approach, a join algorithm for two data sets is applied sequentially, either in a serial manner, where in each join at least one of the joined data sets is a single source, or in a hierarchical manner, where two join results can be joined. For the two approaches, join algorithms are given. The algorithms are designed to perform well even when location of objects are imprecise and each data set represents only some of the real-world entities. Results of extensive experiments with the different approaches are provided and analyzed. The experiments show the differences, in accuracy and efficiency, between the approaches, under different circumstances. The results also show that all our algorithms have much better accuracy than applying the commonly used one-sided nearest-neighbor join. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (Auteur) Mobile mapping systems have been developed to achieve a fast automated acquisition of huge quantity of georeferenced terrestrial images in urban cities. Stereopolis is such a system making it possible to capture panoramic groups of images. These georeferenced photos are then stored in urban images street scale reference databases. The issue investigated in this paper is the problem of tie points extraction between new images captured with an approximate georeferencement by a ”nomad system” and images from the reference database in order to estimate a precise pose for these new images. Because of several difficulties (diachronism, viewpoint change, scale variation, repetitive patterns) extracting enough correct well distributed tie points is difficult and directly extracted and matched SIFT keypoints from original images are most of the time not sufficient. Nevertheless, results can be improved using ortho-rectified images on the facade plane instead of original images. Rectification parameters (3D rotation) are obtained from the coordinates of vanishing points corresponding to the two main directions of the facade. These points can indeed be extracted from linear features of the facade on the images. However, many point matches remain false and difficult to detect using only their image coordinates. The use of both image coordinates and scale and orientation associated to the matched SIFT keypoints makes it possible to detect outliers and to obtain an approximate similitude model between the two ortho-images. A more accurate model can then be computed from correct tie points. [Termes IGN] WiFiRésumé : (Auteur) A common assumption in GNSS receiver design is that the coherent integration time should be less than a few dozens of milliseconds. This makes perfect sense for today’s commercial receivers due to data bit transitions, oscillator jitter, and user dynamics. However, a coherent integration time of several seconds would mitigate three important indoor positioning problems: multipath, cross-correlation false locks, and the squaring loss. Extending the integration time has a price, typically requiring an assistance data link providing data bits (or the use of pilot signals), a stable oscillator, and a sophisticated GNSS/INS integration to compensate for non-linear user motion. This column describes how those issues have been solved and the resulting benefits as demonstrated by a recently built prototype with a sensitivity of around 1.5 dBHz , more than 10 decibels beyond the current state of the art. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Since maps are widely available for many areas around the globe, they provide a valuable resource to help understand other geospatial sources such as to identify roads or to annotate buildings in imagery. To utilize the maps for understanding other geospatial sources, one of the most valuable types of information we need from the map is the road network, because the roads are common features used across different geospatial data sets. Specifically, the set of road intersections of the map provides key information about the road network, which includes the location of the road junctions, the number of roads that meet at the intersections (i.e., connectivity), and the orientations of these roads. The set of road intersections helps to identify roads on imagery by serving as initial seed templates to locate road pixels. Moreover, a conflation system can use the road intersections as reference features (i.e., control point set) to align the map with other geospatial sources, such as aerial imagery or vector data. In this paper, we present a framework for automatically and accurately extracting road intersections from raster maps. Identifying the road intersections is difficult because raster maps typically contain much information such as roads, symbols, characters, or even contour lines. We combine a variety of image processing and graphics recognition methods to automatically separate roads from the raster map and then extract the road intersections. The extracted information includes a set of road intersection positions, the road connectivity, and road orientations. For the problem of road intersection extraction, our approach achieves over 95% precision (correctness) with over 75% recall (completeness) on average on a set of 70 raster maps from a variety of sources.
