[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper addresses issues concerning the exchange and integration of geographic data between producers and users. Once a producer has delivered a geographic database to a user, who then uses it as a reference for specific applications, the database may be updated on both sides. Consequently, the integration of future updates - delivered by the producer -in the user's geographic database is a complex operation due to possible conflicts between updates performed by both parties. The resulting database may become inconsistent and the user's added information may be lost. Users therefore need mechanisms to help them in the process of update integration. This paper provides a methodological framework for the updating of geographic databases. It relies on a multi-version GIS, allowing an automatic detection of conflicting updates between two map versions. [Termes IGN] intégration de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The overlay process is currently one of the main computational solutions used to integrate several data layers from different sources. Unfortunately, it is problematic when trying to overlay many layers. This leads to several geometric problems such as the management of sliver polygons. This paper proposes a new merging process to complement the vector overlay for data integration of several layers. This process, based on measures derived from the Fréchet distance, matches common points (either lines or polygons). It also merges an ordered set of pairs of matching points (vertices) into a single geometry. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Preserving the consistency of a geographical database requires the development of tools for integrating or removing data and making several versions of any geographical objects coexist without altering neither the global consistency, nor the informational power of the database. To construct such tool, two problems must be solved : how to organize the data for efficient updating and how to maintain the database consistency during and after the integration of updates. The latter may be automated in the form of an Integration Module. One of its main tasks is to detect conflicts which perturb the consistency of the database during the update integration. This paper describes the Integration Module we have designed and its role in the general updating process we propose for GIS. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Accurate image registration is essential for the successful creation and interpretation of multi-image spatial information products. However, the enormous increase in the volume of remotely sensed data that is being acquired by an ever growing number of Earth Observation satellites means that automation now plays a more vital role than ever before in the registration procedure. This paper introduces an improved model for automatic feature-based image registration, and presents a robust system for automatically registering SAR and SPOT imagery. The model incorporates multiple feature extraction and feature matching algorithms which operate together to identify common features in the multi-sensor images, from which accurate tie points can be derived. Application of the proposed automatic registration model to both small and large images showed that in each case a large number of accurate tie points could be identified fully automatically across the images.
