[Termes IGN] webGLRésumé : (Auteur) Plan oblique relief shows terrain with a side view on a two-dimensional map, resulting in visualizations where the third dimension of the terrain is more explicit than on traditional two-dimensional maps. Existing plan oblique maps are static: the angle of terrain inclination is not adjustable and the orientation of plan oblique inclination does not change with the orientation of the map. This article introduces two complementary methods that address these issues by using the 3D graphics pipeline to render plan oblique relief for tile-based web maps. The goal is to allow users to adjust the terrain inclination and map rotation angles to better visualize the third dimension of the terrain. The first method pre-renders plan oblique tiles with a server-side application. The tiles are visualized with a standard web mapping framework. The second method renders plan oblique relief on-the-fly in a web browser using WebGL and a customized version of OpenLayers 3, which enables users to select arbitrary terrain inclination and map rotation angles. The second method uses a tiled digital terrain model that is loaded by the web browser. The browser applies the plan oblique transformation, computes a shaded relief, and texturizes the terrain with tiled map layers. [Termes IGN] webGLRésumé : (auteur) In recent years the combination of databases, data and internet technologies has greatly enhanced the functionality of many systems based on spatial data, and facilitated the dissemination of such information. In this paper, we propose a web-based data visualisation and analysis system for stratigraphic data from a Polish mine, with visualisation and analysis tools which can be accessed via the Internet. WWW technologies such as active web pages and WebGL technology provide a user-friendly interface for browsing, plotting, comparing, and downloading information of interest, without the need for dedicated mining industry software. [Termes IGN] service web géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) QuakeSim has implemented a service-based Geographic Information System to enable users to access large amounts of Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR) data through an online interface. The QuakeSim Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) profile tool calculates radar-observed displacement (from an unwrapped interferogram product) along user-specified lines. Pre-rendered thumbnails with InSAR fringe patterns are used to display interferogram and unwrapped phase images on a Google Map in the InSAR profile tool. One challenge with this tool lies in the user visually identifying regions of interest when drawing the profile line. This requires that the user correctly interpret the InSAR imagery, which currently uses fringe patterns. The mapping between pixel color and pixel value is not a one-to-one relationship from the InSAR fringe pattern, and it causes difficulty in understanding general displacement information for QuakeSim users. The goal of this work is to generate color maps that directly reflect the pixel values (displacement) as an addition to the pre-rendered images. Because of an extremely uneven distribution of pixel values on an InSAR image, a histogram-based, nonlinear color template generation algorithm is currently under development. A web service enables on-the-fly coloring of UAVSAR images with dynamically generated color templates. [Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Recent advances in Web technologies have opened avenues to create socio-technical platforms that can empower citizens in urban planning processes. The rise of the GeoWeb and the popularity of Web 2.0 collaborative tools can facilitate the development of a new generation of bottom-up Public Participatory GIS (PPGIS) platforms that can incorporate user-generated content into Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs). New service-based delivery mechanisms can provide architectural flexibility and adaptability, and enable the public to benefit from ubiquitous information access. From an e-participation perspective, Web 2.0 social networking functions support interactive communication among various PPGIS stakeholders, e.g., citizens, planners, and decision makers. The main contribution of this article is to present a reference architecture for e-planning platforms that (1) facilitates effective e-participation by allowing multidirectional map-based communication among various land development stakeholders (e.g., planners, decision makers, citizens, etc.), and (2) enables incorporation of visualization, evaluation, and discussion capabilities to support community planning processes. To achieve this, we developed a service-oriented architecture (SOA) that exploits SDI principles and Web 2.0 technologies. The platform architecture allows heterogeneous data sources, analytical functionality and tools, and presentation frameworks to be plugged into a coherent system to provide a planning and decision support platform. We present two real-world implementations of the proposed architecture that have been developed to support community engagement in the City of Calgary, Canada. [Termes IGN] véhicule automobileRésumé : (auteur) This article presents the enviroCar platform for collecting geographic data acquired from automobile sensors and openly providing those data for further processing and analysis. By plugging a low-cost On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) adapter into a car and using an Android smartphone, various kinds of sensor data measured by today's cars can be collected and uploaded on to the Web. Once available on the Web, these data can be used to monitor traffic and related environmental parameters. We analyse the OBD-II interface and its potential usage for environmental monitoring, e.g. to estimate fuel consumption and resulting inline image emissions, noise emission, and standing times. Next, we present the main contribution of this article, the system design of the enviroCar platform. This system design consists of the enviroCar app and the enviroCar server, which allows for flexible geoprocessing of the uploaded data. We focus in this article on the description of the spatiotemporal RESTful Web Service interface and underlying data model specifically designed for handling the mobile sensor data. Finally, we present application scenarios in which the enviroCar platform can act as a powerful tool, e.g. regarding traffic monitoring and smarter cities (e.g. the detection of pollutant emission hotspots in the city), or towards applications for a quantified self (e.g. monitoring fuel consumption). We started the enviroCar project in 2013 and have been able to attract a growing number of participants since then. In a crowd-funding initiative, enviroCar was successfully funded by volunteers, demonstrating the interest in this platform.
