[Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we first detail the geodesic matching of images which consists in minimizing an energy resulting from a Riemannian metric on a manifold of images, which itself comes from the projection of a Riemannian metric on a deformation group onto the image manifold. We will then present an energy minimization technique based on a wavelet analysis of the deformation and finally some applications with face images and 3D medical data. [Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (auteur) Present and forthcoming satellite gravity missions provide us with new and unique datasets in order to model the Earth's gravity field at 100 km resolution. These new models will bring significant advances in our understanding of the Earth's structure and dynamics. However, it will be necessary to combine satellite data with surface and airborne measurements in order to improve the short wavelength components of the gravity field. The derived regional models with an increased spatial resolution will be used to carry out geodynamic studies at lithospheric or crustal scale. Whereas the classical spherical harmonics decomposition leads to strong numerical difficulties when dealing with local features, wavelet-based representations can handle the local scales as well as the global ones; they should thus be extremely useful to derive local models taking into account data of different origins. Here we describe the construction of wavelet frames on the sphere based on the Poisson multipole wavelet. Those wavelets are of special interest for field modelling since their shape is linked to the potential of multipole sources, and their scaling parameter to the multipole depth (Holschneider et al., 2003). We also compute a local wavelet decomposition of the gravity field at high resolution from evenly and unevenly distributed data using least squares collocation. Our first results show the efficiency of such a representation. [Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper introduces a new wavelet transform based method of road centerline extraction from high resolution remote sensing images. In the one dimensional case, we characterize different kinds of sudden changes of signals by comparing f the magnitudes of the local extreme values of the wavelet transforms under different dilation scales of the same wavelet. The platform-like signals, which come from cross sections of roads, can be characterized through the evolution of the wavelet transform across scales. A two-dimensional wavelet transform of an image consists of two components, each component is a one dimensional wavelet transform in one coordinate direction followed by a smoothing process in the perpendicular direction. The road edges can be characterized through the evolution of the two-dimensional wavelet transform across different scales. Edges of the main roads can then be extracted using these characterizations, and the road centerlines can be obtained by proper post-processing. [Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) Speckle noise is always present in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. Many methods that reduce speckle noise while preserving texture and detail have been presented previously. In this paper, a comparison of different methods using wavelet decomposition is performed and new improvements for traditional methods are introduced. These techniques are: Wiener filtering, classical soft threshold, a new adaptive soft threshold and Bayesian reconstruction. First, speckle noise in a SAR image was analysed statistically. Then, a simulated image following these characteristics was created in order to evaluate noise reduction. The mean squared error was classified depending on the spatial characteristics of a local region. This tool gave valuable information for algorithm assessment. In the comparison, the new adaptive soft threshold method provided excellent results concerning noise reduction and detail preservation compared with classical soft threshold and Wiener methods. In addition, it gave as much noise reduction as the most sophisticated Bayesian method, but much more efficiently. Hence, the adaptive version of soft thresholding outperformed the other techniques. This study also presents a rigorous framework for speckle noise simulation and noise reduction evaluation.
