[Termes IGN] requête spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) Broad boundary is generally used to replace one-dimensional boundary for spatial objects with vague shape. For regions with broad boundary, this concept should respect both connectedness and closeness conditions. Therefore, some real configurations, like regions with partially broad boundary (e.g. lake with rocky and swamp banks), are considered invalid. This paper aims to represent different levels of shape vagueness and consider them during the identification of topological relations. Then, an object with vague shape is composed by two crisp components: a minimal extent and a maximal extent. Topological relations are identified by applying the 9-Intersection model for the subrelations between the minimal and maximal extents of objects involved. Four subrelations are then represented through a 4-Intersection matrix used to classify the topological relations. For regions with broad boundary, 242 relations are distinguished and classified into 40 clusters. This approach supports an adverbial expression of integrity constraints and spatial queries. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper is concerned with the automated generalisation of vector geographic databases. It studies the possible synergies between three existing, complementary models of generalisation, all based on the multi-agent paradigm. These models are respectively well adapted for the generalisation of urban spaces (AGENT model), rural spaces (CARTACOm model) and background themes (GAEL model). In these models, the geographic objects are modelled as agents that apply generalisation algorithms to themselves, guided by cartographic constraints to satisfy. The differences between them particularly lie in their constraint modelling and their agent coordination model. Three complementary ways of combining these models are proposed: separate use on separate zones, “interlaced” sequential use on the same zone, and shared use of data internal to the models. The last one is further investigated and a partial re-engineering of the models is proposed. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Map generalization is a complex task that sometimes requires human intervention. In order to support such a process on the fly, we propose a generalization approach based on self-generalizing objects (SGOs) that encapsulate geometric patterns (forms common to several cartographic features), generalization algorithms, and spatial integrity constraints. During a database enrichment process, an SGO is created and associated with a cartographic feature or a group of features. Each SGO created is then transformed into a software agent (SGO agent) in a multi-agent on-the-fly map-generalization system. SGO agents are equipped with behaviours that enable them to coordinate the generalization process. This article presents the concept of the SGO and two prototypes developed to support this approach: a prototype for the creation of SGOs and another for the on-the-fly map generalization (which uses the created SGOs). [Termes IGN] SQLRésumé : (Auteur) The MultiDimER model is a conceptual model used for representing a multidimensional view of data for Data Warehouse (DW) and On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) applications. This model includes a spatial extension allowing spatiality in levels, hierarchies, fact relationships, and measures. In this way decision-making users can represent in an abstract manner their analysis needs without considering complex implementation issues and spatial OLAP tools developers can have a common vision for representing spatial data in a multidimensional model. In this paper we propose the transformation of a conceptual schema based on the MultiDimER constructs to an object-relational schema. We based our mapping on the SQL:2003 and SQL/MM standards giving examples of commercial implemen-tation using Oracle lOg with its spatial extension. Further we use spatial integrity constraints to ensure the semantic equivalence of the conceptual and logical schemas. We also show some examples of Oracle spatial functions, including aggregation functions required for the manipulation of spatial data. The described mappings to the object-relational model along with the examples using a commercial system show the feasibility of implementing spatial DWs in current commercial DBMSs. Further, using integrated architectures, where spatial and thematic data is defined within the same DBMS, facilitates the system management simplifying data definition and manipulation.
