[Termes IGN] programmation par contraintesRésumé : (Auteur) A weighted total least-squares (WTLS) approach with linear and quadratic constraints is developed. This method is according to the traditional Lagrange approach to optimize the target function of this problem. The WTLS and constrained total least-squares (CTLS) approach had been distinctively investigated, however, these two problems have not been simultaneously considered yet; furthermore, among the contributions on the CTLS problem, only Schaffrin and Felus considered linear and quadratic constraints together; nevertheless, in many practical examples, some elements of the design/coefficient matrix are fixed and should not be modified and this approach cannot deal with these cases. The main necessity of this research appears after the desirable property of the WTLS approach in preserving the structure of the design matrix was proven by Mahboub. In other words, currently, the WTLS approach is one of the most efficient methods for solving the so-called errors-in-variables model and an attempt for equipping it with constraints seems necessary. Also it is demonstrated that the additional constraints have a ’regularization role’ for ill-conditioned problems and the unconstrained solution suffers from ill-conditioning effects which give it an added advantage over the unconstrained WTLS algorithm. Four geodetic applications indicate the significant of this problem in the presence of colored and white noise in the data. [Termes IGN] programmation par contraintesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes the generation and dissemination of a national three-dimensional (3D) dataset representing the virtual and landscape model. The 3D model is produced automatically by fusing a two-dimensional (2D) national object-oriented database describing the physical landscape and the national high-resolution height model of the Netherlands. Semantic constraints are introduced to correctly model 3D objects. Three areas from different regions in the Netherlands have been processed in order to develop, improve, and test the automatic generation of a national 3D city and landscape model. Specific attention has been paid to exceptional cases that may occur in a nationwide dataset. Based on the test results, the Kadaster, the national agency in the Netherlands responsible for the production of nation wide geo-information, decided that it is feasible to produce a national 3D city and landscape model that fulfills the specifications that were defined as part of this study. Future research is identified to make the results further ready for practice. This article presents a new, agent-based generalization model called CARTACOM (Cartographic generalisation with Communicating Agents), dedicated to the treatment of areas of low density but where rubber sheeting techniques are not sufficient because some eliminations or aggregations are needed. In CARTACOM, the objects of the initial database are modelled as agents, that is, autonomous entities, that choose and apply generalisation algorithms to themselves in order to increase the satisfaction of their constraints as much as possible. The CARTACOM model focuses on modelling and treating the relational constraints, defined as constraints that concern a relation between two objects. In order to detect and assess their relational constraints, the CARTACOM agents are able to perceive their spatial surroundings. Moreover, to make the good generalisation decisions to satisfy their relational constraints, they are able to communicate with their neighbours using predefined dialogue protocols. Finally, a hook to another agent-based generalisation model – AGENT – is provided, so that the CARTACOM agents can handle not only their relational constraints but also their internal constraints. The CARTACOM model has been applied to the generalisation of low-density, heterogeneous areas like rural areas, where the space is not hierarchically organised. Examples of results obtained on real data show that it is well adapted for this application. [Termes IGN] programmation par contraintesRésumé : (Auteur) New, free and fast growing spatial data sources have appeared online, based on Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI). OpenStreetMap (OSM) is one of the most representative projects of this trend. Its increasing popularity and density makes the study of its data quality an imperative. A common approach is to compare OSM with a reference dataset. In such cases, data matching is necessary for the comparison to be meaningful, and is usually performed manually at the data preparation stage. This article proposes an automated feature-based matching method specifically designed for VGI, based on a multi-stage approach that combines geometric and attribute constraints. It is applied to the OSM dataset using the official data from Ordnance Survey as the reference dataset. The results are then used to evaluate data completeness of OSM in several case studies in the UK. [Termes IGN] SIG 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Three-dimensional surface models representing the terrain and the outer hull of objects such as buildings and bridges support important 3D GIS applications, for example telecommunication planning and noise emission simulation. Updates of surface models often introduce errors which violate basic assumptions of users and their applications. The notion of geometric-topological consistency covers many of these assumptions. It guarantees that objects do not penetrate mutually or that objects completely cover other objects. Assuring that updates do not violate geometric-topological consistency constitutes a major challenge for 3D GIS which has not been satisfactorily met so far. This article presents a solution which is based on efficient transaction rules for updating 3D surface models. We show that these rules are safe (consistency is preserved by any rule application) and complete (any consistent surface model can be generated by successive rule applications). For both properties rigorous mathematic proofs are given.
