[Termes IGN] précision du positionnementRésumé : (auteur) The search procedure, as a part of the Modified Ambiguity Function Approach (MAFA), is conducted in the coordinate space. The main advantage of searching for a fixed solution in the coordinate domain, instead of in the ambiguity domain, is the constant search space dimension, which amounts to three. In contrast, an ambiguity space dimension can presently achieve over twenty when the positioning is based on multi-system data. Thus, in the MAFA method, the computational complexity is independent of the number of satellites. We propose a new method of estimating the length of the search step. In this method, the actual satellite configuration determines the size of the search step. Therefore, the data-driven search step is always optimal, regardless of the current satellite configuration. The mathematical model of the new approach is provided together with a detailed algorithm. The numerical experiment follows the description of the search procedure. [Vedettes matières IGN] Ecologie forestièreRésumé : (auteur) Spatial patterns can reveal a lot about ecological processes, but our knowledge of the spatial ecology of tree regeneration at a fine scale is quite limited. Therefore, we studied the spatial patterns of living and dead small trees in two subalpine Norway spruce forest reserves in Switzerland (Scatlè and Bödmerenwald) using three types of analyses. First, we investigated the distances of small trees to the nearest large neighboring tree and, by using maximum distances as indicator, inferred the size of forest gaps, detecting mainly forest gaps of small size, although with two exceptions that were driven by large-scale disturbances. Second, we accounted for spatial inhomogeneity in the pattern of small and large trees (i.e., variations in local tree densities) by including environmental covariates in point pattern models. Latitude (within the forest reserve), elevation and aspect contributed significantly to explaining the density of living and dead small trees, and partly of living and dead large trees. Yet, the influence of these environmental covariates varied between the two reserves due to their different topography and peculiar site conditions. Third, we analyzed neighborhood interactions between small and large trees based on the vicinity and size of trees. In both forest reserves, small living trees were randomly dispersed around large dead trees over a broad range of distances and, at certain distances in one reserve, even dispersed away from them. Small living trees further showed clustering around large living trees at short distances and dispersion at large distances. Small dead trees featured mainly a random pattern, although with a tendency to cluster around large neighbors at short distances, irrespective whether these were living or dead. Yet, the weakening of clustering with increasing distances indicates that the influence of large trees on small trees varies with spatial scale and thus that these neighborhood interactions are scale-dependent. Overall, our study contributes to a better understanding of the spatial ecology of mortality in small trees and ultimately of tree regeneration processes and stand dynamics in mountain forests. [Termes IGN] intégrale de NewtonRésumé : (auteur) We apply three spherical-harmonic-based techniques to deliver external gravitational field models of the asteroid (101955) Bennu within its circumscribing sphere. This region is known to be peculiar for external spherical harmonic expansions, because it may lead to a divergent series. The studied approaches are (i) spectral gravity forward modelling via external spherical harmonics, (ii) the least-squares estimation from surface gravitational data using external spherical harmonics and (iii) the combination of internal and external series expansions. While the first method diverges beyond any reasonable doubts, we show that the other two methods may ensure relative accuracy from ∼10−6 to 10−8 in the vicinity of Bennu. This is possible even with the second method, despite the fact that it relies on a single series of external spherical harmonics. Our main motivation was to study conceptual differences between spherical harmonic coefficients from satellite data (analogy to the first method) and from surface gravitational data (the second method). Such coefficients are available through the popular spherical-harmonic-based models of the Earth’s gravitational field and often are combined together. We show that the coefficients from terrestrial data may lead to a divergence effect of partial sums, though excellent accuracy can be achieved when such model is used in full. Under (presently) extreme but realistic conditions, the divergence effect of partial sums may affect many near-surface geoscientific applications, such as the geoid/quasigeoid computation or residual terrain modelling. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) The land-use optimization involves divisions of land into subregions to obtain spatial configuration of compact subregions and desired connections among them. Computational geometry-based algorithms, such as Voronoi diagram, are known to be efficient and suitable for iterative design processes to achieve land-use optimization. However, such algorithms assume that generating point positions are given as inputs, while we usually do not know the positions in advance. In this study, we propose a method to automatically calculate the suitable point positions. The method uses (1) semidefinite programming to approximate locations while maintaining relative positions among locations; and (2) gradient descent to iteratively update locations subject to area constraints. We apply the proposed framework to a practical case at Chiang Mai University and compare its performance with a benchmark, the differential genetic algorithm. The results show that the proposed method is 28 times faster than the differential genetic algorithm, while the resulting land allocation error is slightly larger than that of the benchmark but still acceptable. Additionally, the output does not contain disconnected areas, as found in all evolutionary computations, and the compactness is almost equal to the maximum possible value. This visualization can be used to better understand the passenger flow and to make more informed decisions in future planning. Research was based on officially published information about passenger traffic on subway station for years 2016 and 2018. Visualization was created with the variety of methods and software: Voronoi diagrams (QGIS software), social gravitation potential (R programming language), presentation of gravitation potential as a relief (Blender software), service zones of ground transport accessibility (2GIS, QGIS and Mapbox mapping platform). In this research, authors propose the use of intersection between the service zones and social gravitation potential isolines as an instrument for spatial analysis of traffic data. Analysis shown that current development of subway system does not correspond to passenger distribution. All stations were classified according to their accessibility and propositions about future directions of development were made.
