La nouvelle grille de conversion altimétrique RAF18b, associée à ce repère RGF93V2b et définie dans cet article, permet le passage des hauteurs ellipsoïdales à des altitudes NGF-IGN69. [Termes IGN] transformation de coordonnéesRésumé : (auteur) To evaluate the benefit of a measurement procedure onto the estimated parameters, the dispersion of the parameters is usually used. To draw objective conclusions, unbiased or at least almost unbiased estimates are required. In geodesy, most of the functional relations are nonlinear but the statistical properties of the estimates are usually obtained by a linearised substitute-problem. Since the statistical properties of linear models cannot be passed to the nonlinear case, the estimates are biased. In this contribution, the bias of the parameters as well as the bias of the dispersion in nonlinear implicit models is investigated, using a second-order Taylor expansion. Nonlinear implicit models are general models and are used, for instance, in the framework of surface-fitting or coordinate transformation, which considers errors for the coordinates in source and target system. The bias is introduced as a further indicator to validate the benefit of an adapted measurement process using more precise measuring instruments. Since some parametrisations yield an ill-posed problem, also the case of a singular equation system is investigated. To demonstrate the second-order effect onto the estimates, a best-fitting plane is adjusted under varying configurations. Such a configuration is recommended in evaluating uncertainties of optical 3D measuring systems, e.g. in the framework of the VDI/VDE 2634 guideline. The estimated bias is used as an indicator whether a large number of poor observations provides better results than a small but precise sample. [Termes IGN] surface de la merRésumé : (auteur) Traditionally, geoid models have been validated using GNSS-levelling benchmarks on land only. As such benchmarks cannot be established offshore, marine areas of geoid models must be evaluated in a different way. In this research, we present a marine GNSS/gravity campaign where existing geoid models were validated at sea areas by GNSS measurements in combination with sea surface models. Additionally, a new geoid model, calculated using the newly collected marine gravity data, was validated. The campaign was carried out with the marine geology research catamaran Geomari (operated by the Geological Survey of Finland), which sailed back and forth the eastern part of the Finnish territorial waters of the Gulf of Finland during the early summer of 2018. From the GNSS and sea surface data we were able to obtain geoid heights at sea areas with an accuracy of a few centimetres. When the GNSS derived geoid heights are compared with geoid heights from the geoid models differences between the respective models are seen in the most eastern and southern parts of the campaign area. The new gravity data changed the geoid model heights by up to 15 cm in areas of sparse/non-existing gravity data. [Termes IGN] Normalized Difference Snow IndexRésumé : (auteur) Geographic information such as the altitude, latitude, and longitude are common but fundamental meta-records in remote sensing image products. In this paper, it is shown that such a group of records provides important priors for cloud and snow detection in remote sensing imagery. The intuition comes from some common geographical knowledge, where many of them are important but are often overlooked. For example, it is generally known that snow is less likely to exist in low-latitude or low-altitude areas, and clouds in different geographic may have various visual appearances. Previous cloud and snow detection methods simply ignore the use of such information, and perform detection solely based on the image data (band reflectance). Due to the neglect of such priors, most of these methods are difficult to obtain satisfactory performance in complex scenarios (e.g., cloud-snow coexistence). In this paper, a novel neural network called “Geographic Information-driven Network (GeoInfoNet)” is proposed for cloud and snow detection. In addition to the use of the image data, the model integrates the geographic information at both training and detection phases. A “geographic information encoder” is specially designed, which encodes the altitude, latitude, and longitude of imagery to a set of auxiliary maps and then feeds them to the detection network. The proposed network can be trained in an end-to-end fashion with dense robust features extracted and fused. A new dataset called “Levir_CS” for cloud and snow detection is built, which contains 4,168 Gaofen-1 satellite images and corresponding geographical records, and is over 20× larger than other datasets in this field. On “Levir_CS”, experiments show that the method achieves 90.74% intersection over union of cloud and 78.26% intersection over union of snow. It outperforms other state of the art cloud and snow detection methods with a large margin. Feature visualizations also show that the method learns some important priors which is close to the common sense. The proposed dataset and the code of GeoInfoNet are available in https://github.com/permanentCH5/GeoInfoNet.
