To investigate the quality of the Gavdos geodetic coordinates and velocities, we analyzed and compared here DORIS and GPS-derived results obtained during several years of observations. The DORIS solution is the latest ignwd11 solution at IGN, expressed in ITRF2008, while the GPS solution was obtained using the GAMIT software package. Current results show that 1–2 mm/yr agreement can be obtained for 3-D velocity, showing a good agreement with current geophysical models. In particular, the agreement obtained for the vertical velocity is around 0.3–0.4 mm/yr, depending on the terrestrial reference frame. As a by-product of these geodetic GPS and DORIS results, Zenith Tropospheric Delays (ZTDs) estimations were also compared in 2010 between these two techniques, and compared to ECMWF values, showing a 6.6 mm agreement in dispersion without any significant difference between GPS and DORIS (with a 97.6% correlation), but with a 13–14 mm agreement in dispersion when comparing to ECMWF model (with only about 90% correlation for both techniques). These tropospheric delay estimations could also provide an external calibration of the tropospheric correction used for the geophysical data of satellite altimetry missions. [Termes IGN] surveillance de la végétationRésumé : (Auteur) We evaluated the cross-sensor compatibilities of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) across the Visible/Infrared Imager/Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)-14 and NOAA-19 Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) (AVHRR/2 and AVHRR/3) bandpasses using a global set of Earth Observing One Hyperion hyperspectral data. Five levels of atmospheric correction were simulated to examine the impact of the atmosphere on intersensor NDVI compatibility. These were the uncorrected “top-of-atmosphere”; Rayleigh (RAY); Rayleigh and ozone (RO); Rayleigh, ozone, and water vapor (ROW); and total atmosphere-corrected “top-of-canopy (TOC)” reflectances. Among all possible sensor pairs examined, the highest compatibility was observed for VIIRS versus MODIS. Cross-sensor NDVI relationships between the two sensor bandpasses remained nearly the same throughout all levels of atmospheric correction. AVHRR/3-versus-AVHRR/2 NDVI relationships changed very little and also showed an equivalent level of compatibility to VIIRS versus MODIS across all levels of atmospheric correction although they were subject to systematic differences. Intersensor NDVI compatibilities of VIIRS and MODIS to AVHRR/2 and to AVHRR/3 were lower due primarily to the differential sensitivities of these sensors' near-infrared bands to the atmospheric water vapor effects. Comparisons of cross-sensor NDVI compatibilities where operational atmospheric correction schemes were assumed for each of the sensors suggest the need of VIIRS TOC NDVI for long-term continuity with MODIS and AVHRR, which is not currently produced as part of the standard VIIRS Vegetation Index Environmental Data Record. The varying atmosphere introduces two disturbing forces in the gravity signal, the so called direct effect or Newtonian attraction, where the measuring object is attracted by the atmospheric mass itself, and secondly the indirect effect or atmospheric loading, where the masses deform the Earth’s surface, what again influences the measured gravity signal due to the slightly changes gravity field. In satellite gravity missions such signals are referred to as aliasing. To eliminate them, the de- termination of accurate atmospheric gravity field coefficients (AGC) is indispensable. For the determination of AGC it is state of the art to use high resolution numerical weather models which take into account the time-variable three-dimensional distribution of the atmospheric mass. By subtracting the gravity spherical harmonics of the instantaneous atmosphere from the ones of a long term mean field, the residual gravity spherical harmonic series is obtained. It describes the deviation of the actual gravity field from the mean gravity field due to atmospheric mass variations. Ground based gravimetric measurements encounter the same difficulty of eliminating the disturbing signal introduced by the atmosphere. Superconducting gravimeters are usually corrected using the local air pressure, which reduces up to 90-95 % of the atmospheric signal. However, modern superconducting gravimeters require an even better atmospheric correction if small signals are to be identified. For this task the use of three-dimensional modeling of atmospheric mass attraction based on operational numerical weather models has shown promising results. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction

Recent studies have shown the potential of using intensity data for many applications. However, there are limitations in using the raw intensity data because of radiometric system bias, reflectance noise and variations between adjacent strips. To overcome these limitations, a three-step LiDAR intensity correction algorithm is proposed. Following corrections for environmental and surface effects, an overlap-driven least-squares adjustment model that does not rely on the selection of homologous points minimizes intensity differences in the overlap area of strips. Finally, the Phong reflection model, which describes both diffuse and specular reflectance, is used to attenuate the effects of strong reflections that typically occur over wet or water dominated areas. The algorithm was applied to a multi-strip LiDAR dataset that covers wetlands in the estuary of the Yellow River, People’s Republic of China. Results demonstrated a significant reduction in radiometric differences in the overlap areas, and strong specular reflections in the nadir regions were reduced. Objects which were obscured by the specular reflection in the original intensity data were clearly identifiable after the adjustment.
