[Termes IGN] radargrammétrieRésumé : (Auteur) Imagine a fully automated, highly reliable system to produce high-accuracy orthos and mosaics of radar data all over the world. Time-sensitive applications such as oil spills flood monitoring can now access high-accuracy radar orthos as soon as data is available. These applications and more are now possible with the successful operation of the ALOS satellite. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) We describe a procedure to accurately measure ground deformations from optical satellite images. Precise orthorectification is obtained owing to an optimized model of the imaging system, where look directions are linearly corrected to compensate for attitude drifts, and sensor orientation uncertainties are accounted for. We introduce a new computation of the inverse projection matrices for which a rigorous resampling is proposed. The irregular resampling problem is explicitly addressed to avoid introducing aliasing in the ortho-rectified images. Image registration and correlation is achieved with a new iterative unbiased processor that estimates the phase plane in the Fourier domain for subpixel shift detection. Without using supplementary data, raw images are wrapped onto the digital elevation model and coregistered with a 1/50 pixel accuracy. The procedure applies to images from any pushbroom imaging system. We analyze its performance using Satellite pour l'Observation de la Terre (SPOT) images in the case of a null test (no coseismic deformation) and in the case of large coseismic deformations due to the Mw 7.1 Hector Mine, California, earthquake of 1999. The proposed technique would also allow precise coregistration of images for the measurement of surface displacements due to ice-flow or geomorphic processes, or for any other change detection applications. A complete software package, the Coregistration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation, is available for download from the Caltech Tectonics Observatory website. [Termes IGN] Victoria (Australie)Résumé : (Auteur) Orthophotos (or orthoimages if in digital form) have long been recognised as a supplement or alternative to standard maps. The increasing applications of orthoimages require efforts to ensure the accuracy of produced orthoimages. As digital photogrammetry technology has reached a stage of relative maturity and stability, the availability of high quality ground control points (GCPs) and digital elevation models (DEMs) becomes the central issue for successfully implementing an image orthorectification project. Concerns with the impacts of the quality of GCPs and DEMs on the quality of orthoimages inspire researchers to look for more reliable approaches to acquire high quality GCPs and DEMs for orthorectification. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), an emerging technology, offers capability of capturing high density three dimensional points and generating high accuracy DEMs in a fast and cost-effective way. Nowadays, highly developed computer technologies enable rapid processing of huge volumes of LiDAR data. This leads to a great potential to use LiDAR data to get high quality GCPs and DEMs to improve the accuracy of orthoimages. This paper presents methods for utilizing LiDAR intensity images to collect high accuracy ground coordinates of GCPs and for utilizing LiDAR data to generate a high quality DEM for digital photogrammetry and orthorectification processes. A comparative analysis is also presented to assess the performance of proposed methods. The results demonstrated the feasibility of using LiDAR intensity image-based GCPs and the LiDAR-derived DEM to produce high quality orthoimages. [Termes IGN] point d'appuiRésumé : (Auteur) The correct georeferencing of remote sensing images is a fundamental task in the photogrammetric processing for orthoimages and DEM generation and for feature extraction. In this paper, we focus on the georeferencing of pushbroom sensors with rigorous models, that is, approaches that are based on the photogrammetric collinearity equations and describe the exact acquisition geometry of the sensors. By solving a bundle adjustment, the sensor external orientation and additional geometric parameters describing the internal orientation are estimated. We tested two rigorous models developed in academic groups for the georeferencing of a stereopair from QuickBird. The first model (M1) has been implemented at the University La Sapienza, Rome. It is specifically designed for the orthorectification of pushbroom sensors carried on satellite platforms with asynchronous acquisition mode, like EROS-A and QuickBird. The model, implemented in the software SISAR, reconstructs of the orbital segment during the image acquisition through the knowledge of Keplerian orbital parameters, the sensor attitude, internal orientation and the self-calibration parameters. The second model (M2) is a rigorous sensor model for pushbroom linear array sensors, carried on airborne or spaceborne platforms. It estimates the parameters modelling the sensor internal and external orientation through a bundle adjustment, using a suitable number of ground control points. Our research included the orientation of the single images with rigorous model M1, the orientation of the stereo pair with rigorous model M2 and the comparison of the results with a rigorous model contained in commercial software (PCI OrthoEngine). The results demonstrate that by using rigorous models it is possible to achieve RMSE smaller than 1 pixel in the GPs if a sufficient number of GCPs are used.
