[Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) Sidereal filtering is a technique used to reduce errors caused by multipath in the positioning of static receivers via the Global Positioning System (GPS). It relies upon the receiver and its surrounding environment remaining static from one day to the next and takes advantage of the approximately sidereal repeat time of the GPS constellation geometry. The repeating multipath error can thus be identified, usually in the position domain, and largely removed from the following day. We describe an observation-domain sidereal filter algorithm that operates on undifferenced ionospheric-free GPS carrier phase measurements to reduce errors caused by multipath. It is applied in the context of high-rate (1 Hz) precise point positioning of a static receiver. An observation-domain sidereal filter (ODSF) is able to account for the slightly different repeat times of each GPS satellite, unlike a position-domain sidereal filter (PDSF), and can hence be more effective at reducing high-frequency multipath error. Using 8-h long datasets of GPS measurements from two different receivers with different antenna types and contrasting environments, the ODSF algorithm is shown overall to yield a position time series 5–10 % more stable, in terms of Allan deviation, than a PDSF over nearly all time intervals below about 200 s in length. This may be particularly useful for earthquake and tsunami early warning systems where the accurate measurement of small displacements of the ground over the period of just a few minutes is crucial. However, the sidereal filters are also applied to a third dataset during which two short episodes of particularly high-frequency multipath error were identified. These two periods are analyzed in detail and illustrate the limitations of using sidereal filters with important implications for other methods of correcting for multipath at the observation level. [Termes IGN] trajet multipleRésumé : (auteur) Pseudorange multipath and pseudorange noise are the largest remaining unmanaged error sources in PPP. It is proposed that by reducing the effects of multipath and noise on the pseudorange observable, accurate estimates of carrier phase float ambiguities will be attained sooner, thus reducing the initial convergence period of PPP. Given the problem, this study seeks to improve mitigation of the pseudorange errors. The well-known multipath linear combination is used in two distinct ways: (1) to directly correct the raw pseudorange observables and (2) to stochastically de-weight the pseudorange observables. The improvements in the solution were calculated with respect to the conventional GPS PPP float solution, where the raw pseudorange observables were not modified or stochastically de-weighted. Corrections to the observables were made using the multipath linear combination from data obtained from the previous and same day. Minimal improvements were noted using the multipath observable from the previous day. Using the multipath observable from the same day was possible in real-time and post-processing modes, showing an improvement in the rate of convergence for 48 and 57 % of the data, respectively. An improvement in the rate of convergence for 34 % of the data was observed when the pseudorange measurements were stochastically de-weighted using the multipath observable. Datasets with no improvements from directly correcting the raw pseudorange observables (43 %) or stochastically de-weighting the pseudorange observables (66 %) presented similar quality of results as the conventional PPP solution. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Multipath effects caused by reflections in the near-field and far-field of a GNSS antenna represent a major error source in static and kinematic GNSS positioning applications. Since these effects are strongly site-specific, a generally valid and practicable analytical multipath model is still lacking. In contrast, using GNSS carrier phase observation residuals, the multipath stacking (MPS) methods are able to take site-specific conditions into account. We propose an advanced approach to performing residual-based MPS in the space domain. Being superior to most conventional attempts in which stacking cells have a fixed azimuthal resolution, our suggested method makes use of congruent cells and rigorous statistical assessments in terms of outlier detection and significance evaluation of the stacked values. The advanced stacking approach is applied to representative phase residuals from static precise point positioning. The results show that the use of congruent cells allows for MPS at high elevation angles and with a fine spatial resolution. Applying the resulting MPS maps at the residual level, both near-field and far-field effects at high and low elevation angles, respectively, can be significantly mitigated. In comparison with the conventional approach, the advanced one enables a larger reduction of about 20 % in the SD of residuals. [Termes IGN] trajet multipleRésumé : (auteur) Modeling and mitigating carrier-phase multipath errors continue to be a significant challenge for high-accuracy positioning using global navigation satellite systems. The multipath error is dependent on the operational environment and therefore cannot be mitigated by differencing techniques. The effect of multipath is accentuated when observables based on linear combinations of measurements from two or more frequencies are formulated. We develop a new carrier-phase multipath error observable that isolates the inter-frequency carrier-phase multipath error for linear combinations of observables, such as wide-lane (WL). Real-time kinematic positioning results from varying baseline lengths show that a significant reduction in between 14 and 47 % in the time to initial ambiguity resolution are achieved by correcting the WL observable using the new carrier-phase multipath error observable.
