[Termes IGN] stéréoscopieRésumé : (auteur) We present an approach for the detection of building in aerial images using binocular and monocular information. A cooperative method is developed in which both stereo matching and perceptual grouping techniques are used to ensure a reliable detection of building structures in a contour map. Indeed, when one uses geometric grouping alone, one has to resolve a hard combinatorial search problem. So, we propose to use the disparity map obtained by stereo matching to filter irrelevant contours. This approach allows us to reduce the search space for the geometric grouping process, which uses the remaining contours to detect buildings according to the principle of perceptual organization. In this work, we only consider the class of buildings which can be modeled as a combination of rectangular structures. The detected buildings are then fed back to the stereo process to generate a new disparity map in which building forms are better preserved. In our stereo matching algorithm, we use a dynamic programming technique to estimate the disparity at each point before computing it using both parametric and non-parametric correlation. This strategy allows us to speed up the correlation process and reduce the risk of false matching. [Termes IGN] orthophotoplan numériqueIndex. décimale : 33.30 Photogrammétrie numérique Résumé : (Auteur) Digital orthoprojection (DOP) is a purely mathematical method for digital image transformation. Images of a known geometry, which are stored in the form of digital data, are transformed into a vertical parallel projection, i.e. an orthophoto, using their orientation parameters and the corresponding digital terrain model (DTM). To permit the successful practical implementation of DOP and, as a result, one of the first applications of digital photogrammetry (DP), investigations have been made with regard to process engineering and the possibilities of optimizing the algorithms of DOP.
The present thesis starts by describing the theoretical principles of DOP and presents a new approach. Generally speaking, DOP permits rigorous allowance to be made for high-precision DTMs - a clear advantage offered by DOP over analytical orthoprojection. Mosaicking becomes an integral part of DOP. The new mosaicking technique described here is based on image pyramids and image filtering.
This is followed by a practical section in which the possibilities of optimizing the DOP method are discussed. For this, different versions of the geometric and radiometric components are tested on various computer systems. A wide spectrum of computer systems ranging from the supercomputer to the PC is available for this purpose. The examples given demonstrate that, even at this stage, DOP can be economically operated on workstations.
The subsequent chapter describes various aspects of process engineering in DOP. Since the integration of scanners into the DOP process is essential for several reasons, they are used as a basis for discussing the problems of data quantities, data conversion, data compression, data storage and data output. Several instruments are dealt with as examples for data output. Image orientation data, DTM data and quality control are further important subjects investigated here. The use of texture mapping from the field of computer graphics opens up a further new possibility for orthoprojection, with the DOP being displayed on standard hardware from the computer graphics industry. The requirements and capabilities of texture mapping in DP are presented and provide interesting new prospects.
The main part of the thesis is concluded by selected examples. Mosaicking is demonstrated using image material in black-and-white and colour. Examples of extreme scale ratios of the source image to the orthophoto prove the suitability of DOP for such applications. The content of the image detfermines in this case whether a high or low resolution is used for scanning. The scanner is of paramount importance here.
The main conclusion to be drawn from the present thesis is the suitability of DOP for practical use. Compared with previous techniques, DOP offers clear benefits not only due to the possibility of easy mosaicking. Orthophotos are also, for example, an ideal supplement to geographic information systems. DOP is therefore expected to give a major boost to the acceptance of DP.Numéro de notice : 28069 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Thèse étrangère Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=63416 Réservation
