[Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Recent camera technology provides new solutions for high-resolution image acquisition. These cameras are based on large CCD-matrices as well as CCD-line sensors and fulfill both : large field of view and high spatial resolution. Single -or multi-line cameras have been designed for spaceborne, airborne and terrestrial scanners to provide high-resolution wide angle or even panoramic imagery. Such cameras allow new approaches of 3D scene visualization/reconstruction and new applications in airborne and close range photogrammetry. This has influences on camera design and development, calibration, image acquisition and data processing. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Interpreting the geometry of geological objects is a standard activity of fieldbased geologists. We present new Graphics tools that will aid in extending this activity from 2D geological mapping into a 3D environment. Much of the existing 3D geological modeling software supports the construction of objects with the input of dense control data. However, for regional mapping and near mine exploration work, sparse data is the norm. Tools are required therefore, which give the expert interpreter full control of the graphics objects, while at the same time constraining interpretations to specific control data from field observations. We present the initial results of a software design and programming project for the visualization of complex regional scale geologic objects using Bezierbased graphics tools that are optimized for sparse data interpretation. We also introduce the concept of a structural ribbon, which is a 3D extended map trace, along with methods for the optimization of surface construction using graphical grip frames. [Termes IGN] visualisationRésumé : (Auteur) We present a multiresolution model for terrain surfaces which is able to handle large-scale global topographic. It is based on a hierarchical decomposition of the sphere by a recursive bisection triangulation in geographic coordinates. Error indicators allow the representation of the data at various levels of detail and enable data compression by local omission of data values. The resulting adaptive hierarchical triangulation is stored using a bit code of the underlying binary tree and additionally, relative pointers which allow a selective tree traversal. This way, it is possible to work directly on the compressed data. We show that significant compression rates can be obtained already for small threshold values. In a visualization application, adaptive triangulations which consist of hundreds of thousands of shaded triangles are extracted and drawn at interactive rates. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Although the GIS community has been quick to exploit the advantages of virtual reality (VR) for display and analysis of spatial data, VR does not appear to have been exploited widely for remote sensing data analysis. A case study of high resolution lidar data acquired over a deciduous forest near Morgantown, WV was used to investigate the potential and limitations of current VR software for remote sensing analysis. The functionality within a standard remote sensing software package was found to provide a good overview of interpolated, smoothed lidar data, but was less useful for gridded data that had not been interpolated. With gridded data, it was possible to drape orthophotographs or other images over the lidar data, providing a useful method for investigating relationships between lidar and other data. Alternatively, using a commercial VR package, it was possible to view the original lidar point data, and thus visualize the multiple returns from within the canopy of each tree. The point data were preferable for identification of surfaces within the data cloud, especially the ground surface. For a fully integrated remote sensing VR package, functionality will be needed to link point and interpolated coverages, and also to enhance the interactive selection of data for further statistical analysis, Numéro de notice : A2003-100 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/10106040308542260 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/10106040308542260 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=22396
