[Termes IGN] radargrammétrieRésumé : (Auteur) This paper shows results of digital elevation models (DEMs) generated from various RADARSAT stereopairs (fine, standard, extended) over three different topographic study sites (flattorolling, rollingtomountainous, mountainoustosteep) using 31) parametric modcling developed at the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) and an automated image matching method. Reference topographic DEMs were first used to compute terrain slope and aspect and then to evaluate the accuracy of the stereoderived DEMs as a function of the slopes and aspects. The DEM accuracy was almost linearly correlated with the terrain slope, with the larger errors in the steepest slopes. In addition, the stronger the stereo radar geometry, the more heterogeneous the DEM is. For the aspect, the best and worse results generally occurred in the foreslopes and backslopes, respectively, and there is no specific trend in the azimuth. Finally, the more pronounced the relief, the higher the correlation between the elevation accuracy and the aspect is and the larger the variations of the elevation accuracy are. The first part presents the proposed method, which is an adaptation of previous work to the specific case of urban areas. The major modifications are 1) the clique potentials of the Markov random field that extracts the road network are adapted and 2) a multiscale framework is used. Results on shutle mission and aerial SAR images with different resolutions are presented. The second part is dedicated to road extraction combining two SAR images taken with different flight directions (orthogonal and antiparallel passes), and the obtained improvement is analyzed. [Termes IGN] stéréoscopieRésumé : (Auteur) The rational function model (RFM) is an alternative sensor model allowing users to perform photogrammetric processing. The RFM has been used as a replacement sensor model in some commercial photogrammetric systems due to its capability of maintaining the accuracy of the physical sensor models and its generic characteristic of supporting sensor-independent photogrammetric processing. With RFM parameters provided, end users are able to perform photogrammetric processing including ortho-rectification, 3D reconstruction, and DEM generation with an absence of the physical sensor model. In this research, we investigate two methods for RFM-based 3D reconstruction, the inverse RFM method and the forward RFM method. Detailed derivations of algorithmic procedure are described. The emphasis is placed on the comparison of these two reconstruction methods. Experimental results show that the foward RFM can achieve a better reconstruction accuracy. Finally, real Ikonos stereo pairs were employed to verify the applicability and the performance of the reconstruction method. [Termes IGN] orthophotographieRésumé : (Auteur) Digital surface models (DSMs) are used for various analyses in environmental science, e.g. for erosion and water studies. Aerial photos and maps, which are necessary for the extraction of DSMs, often do not exist due to financial or political reasons. This situation can be also encountered in Morocco and, in particular, a test area of the international research project IMPETUS was used in this study. Therefore, stereo satellite images of CORONA have been used, as they allow DSM generation, have a ground resolution of 1.83 m, reasonable price (US$1218 per filmstrip of 188 X 14 km) and large coverage (especially of Asia and eastem Europe). The software program ERDAS IMAGINE OrthoBASE Pro was used to generate DSMs automatically from CORONA satellite images with best vertical accuracy of about 10 m and planimetric accuracy of about 3 m. These DSMs could afterwards be used to generate orthoimages, e.g. for mapping change detection and generating thematic maps or land use classifications.
