[Termes IGN] risque naturelRésumé : (Auteur) Mudslides and debris flows are now more common problems in tropical regions than landslides. This article addresses the issue of modelling mudslide-susceptible locations using an information value approach. Landsat 7 (ETM+) was employed to create a land-use map with limited field checks. Other parameters considered were lineament, road, soil, stream network and lithology. Topographic parameters such as slope and aspect play a dominant role in slope stability studies. Maps for slope and aspects were developed from a digital elevation model using statistical surface interpolation techniques. This article offers insight into the importance of the selection of suitable surface interpolation techniques. The three surface interpolation techniques evaluated in the study were: inverse distance weighted, Kriging and Spline. These were found to have varied accuracies of interpolation surfaces for all parameters, including elevation, slope and aspect. Surfaces offering the best accuracy were adopted for the information value approach for mudslide susceptibility zonation. [Termes IGN] TibetRésumé : (auteur) With its global coverage and all-weather imaging capability, Interferometric SAR (InSAR) has been revolutionizing our ability to image the Earth's surface and the evolution of its shape over time. In turn, this has led to many new insights into geophysical and engineering processes, such as volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides and mining activity. In this study, we used an advanced InSAR time series technique to map ground motion of an area in Northern Tibet using ENVISAT images acquired between 2003 and 2007. In order to minimise the effects of baseline decorrelation, a subset of possible pairs having a perpendicular baseline (i.e. orbital separation) of less than 400 m was chosen for the InSAR time series analysis. The time series results reveal an ‘unexpected’ nonlinear ground motion: the area of interest was relatively stable during the period from 2003 to the middle of 2004, whilst it has exhibited a nearly linear uplift of about 8 cm since the middle of 2004. Examination of high-resolution ALOS PRISM images shows that the uplift signal occurred over the Huatugou oil field and is most likely caused by water injection. This study highlights the potential of InSAR as an early detection tool of surface deformations. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) GIS landslide-hazard maps are a common and useful tool for people involved in disaster management, spatial planning and disaster recovery, providing an image of the most susceptible areas and so enabling better pre-, during and post-event decision-making. In assessing regional landslide hazards, several issues must be considered. The place and time when a landslide may occur, its dimensions, how fast and far it will travel, the chance of human injury or damage to manmade objects, the frequency of landslides in a certain area, and the impact of future climatic change. [Termes IGN] vulnérabilitéRésumé : (Auteur) This paper deals with a tentative proposal for the development of a monitoring framework in order to evaluate the vulnerability of a cultural site with respect to various types of hazards. The ultimate purpose of the research is to protect and conserve cultural heritage. In our paper, we investigate procedures for monitoring the long-term behavior of a cultural landscape in order to determine the most appropriate one to deal with such probable natural hazards as seismic events, volcanic eruptions, soil liquefaction, landslides, tsunami, and flooding.
