[Termes IGN] positionnement par GPSRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents the results obtained with a new type of spatiotemporal topological dimension implemented within a hypercube, i.e., within a multidimensional database (MDDB) structure formed by the conjunction of several thematic, spatial and temporal dimensions. Our goal is to support efficient SpatioTemporal Exploration and Analysis (STEA) in the context of Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS), the worldwide amateur radio system for position report transmission. Mobile APRS stations are equipped with GPS navigation systems to provide real-time positioning reports. Previous research about the multidimensional approach has proved good potential for spatiotemporal exploration and analysis despite a lack of explicit topological operators (spatial, temporal and spatiotemporal). Our project implemented such operators through a hierarchy of operators that are applied to pairs of instances of objects. At the top of the hierarchy, users can use simple operators such as "same place", "same time" or "same time, same place". As they drill down into the hierarchy, more detailed topological operators are made available such as "adjacent immediately after", "touch during" or more detailed operators. This hierarchy is structured according to four levels of granularity based on cognitive models, generalized relationships and formal models of topological relationships. In this paper, we also describe the generic approach which allows efficient STEA within the multidimensional approach. Finally, we demonstrate that such an implementation offers query run times which permit to maintain a "train-of-thought" during exploration and analysis operations as they are compatible with Newell's cognitive band (query runtime Numéro de notice : A2004-311 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2003.12.002 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2003.12.002 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26838

[Termes IGN] positionnement par GPSRésumé : (auteur) We have used the new gravity field model GGM01C derived from GRACE data to reanalyze DORIS data from 1993.0 to 2003.2 using the Gipsy/Oasis software and a free-network approach. We have estimated the position and velocity of each DORIS station in ITRF2000. In order to test the accuracy of these results, we have compared them to the positions and velocities of 43 collocated GPS stations using local ties and covariance information. DORIS results computed using the GGM01C gravity field instead of the EGM96 gravity field show a significantly improved external agreement with GPS. Position agreement of 12–26 mm was reduced to 10–13 mm and velocity agreement of 3.3–3.7 mm/yr was reduced to 2.4–3.3 mm/yr. This can be interpreted as an external test of the accuracy of the new GGM01C gravity field. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (Auteur) Today's mobile mapping systems (MMS) benefit from an array of sensors and technologies to collect precise data on roadways. Data collected by MMS include spatial and attribute information on various objects of interest. The global positioning system (GPS), usually differentially corrected, is one of the essential positioning technologies currently used in MMS which is often integrated with other positioning technologies, such as inertial navigation systems (INS), differential odometers and digital compasses. As GPS is the most dominant positoining technology in MMS, we propose an innovative approach in using GPS in order to improve its performance and productivity, and to reduce the operational costs of MMS. To that end, we present and discuss in this paper GPS quality of service (QoS) and a novel approach called GPS QoS Map (GQMap) to reliably predict optimal data collection strategies using MMS. [Termes IGN] récepteur bifréquenceRésumé : (Auteur) On July 16, 1982, a Delta launch vehicle propelled the Landsat-4 remote sensing satellite into orbit. This satellite, the fourth in the United States' Landsat program, carried a new suite of sensors which produced data of such detail and clarity that its use represented a major advance in Earth observations from space. In addition, Landsat-4 carried the first GPS receiver into orbit. Although only a few of the prototype Block I GIPS satellites were available at the time, Landsat-4's GPS receiver demonstrated that a spacecraft could be navigated with GPS to an accuracy better than 50 meters. Since that inaugural flight, dozens of GPS receivers have flown in space. These receivers have not only provided accurate positions and velocities of their host spacecraft but also determined spacecraft attitude and accurate time for spacecraft sensors, and profiled the atmosphere by observing GPS satellites as they are occulted by the Earth's limb. In this month's column, we look at yet another application of GPS in space : precisely determining the relative positions of cooperative spacecraft flying in formation. Simultaneous measurements by multiple formation-flying satellites can provide significant benefits to a wide variety of space missions. Such measurements can yield higher-resolution imagery and interferometry or information on small-scale spatial variations in atmospheric properties or gravity. The concept can also be extended to provide robust and redundant fault-tolerant spacecraft system architectures and complex networks dispersed over clusters of satellites. Some of these applications require knowing the precise location of each cooperating spacecraft. Dual-frequency GPS carrier-phase observations can provide the required precision.
