[Termes IGN] théodoliteRésumé : (Auteur) Calibration is a set of operations that establish, under specified conditions, the relationship between values of quantities indicated by measuring instrument or system, and the corresponding values realized by standards. Calibration is achieved by means of direct comparison against measurement standards certified reference materials. In geodetic works, there is always the need to ensure the quality of the carried out measurements, in agreement with the proper per project accuracy specifications. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that the measuring accuracy of the instruments weakens during use. In order to achieve the accuracy of the measurements to comply with the specifications or standards, the calibration of the instruments used (from optical theodolites and levels to EDM instruments, Total Stations and GPS systems) is of paramount importance. [Termes IGN] télémètre laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) The 20th Congress was held in the Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre between 12th and 23rd July. During the last four and half days of this period (19th to 23rd July), the Technical and Scientific Exhibitions were held in the new Rumeli Hall located adjacent to the main Convention building. However this location caused no difficulty either to the participants or exhibitors since an escalator gave a direct connection between the two buildings. In fact, the Hall proved to be a first-class venue for the two Exhibitions. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Cologne Cathedral as it shows itself nowadays is one of the most famous German architectural monuments and has been Cologne's dominating landmark for centuries. The two towers are 157,4 m tall, the cathedral is 144,6 m long and 86,2 m wide. The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne and is a spiritual centre of the religious life of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany. Due to its enormous size and being built up in pure original Gothic style, it is a Gothic masterpiece and, thus, is even one of Europe's most famous monuments.
