[Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (Auteur) A mobile mapping system (MMS) is the answer of the geoinformation community to the exponentially growing demand for various geospatial data with increasingly higher accuracies, captured by multiple sensors. As the mobile mapping technology is pushed to explore its use for various applications on water, rail, or road, the need emerges to have an external sensor calibration procedure that is portable, fast and easy to perform. This way, sensors can be mounted and demounted depending on the application requirements without the need for time consuming calibration procedures. A new methodology is presented to provide a high quality external calibration of cameras which is automatic, robust and fool proof. The method uses a portable, standard ranging pole which needs to be positioned on a known ground control point. While the literature focuses on solving the absolute orientation problem of the calibration, an automatic method to detect the calibration object is missing. Here, we present a mutual information based image registration technique for automatic sub-pixel localization of the ranging pole under realistic outdoor conditions. We include several robust error detection rules to allow the calibration to run without human intervention, giving as little outliers as possible, to ensure a correct calibration. Several tests are performed under various lighting and noise conditions which prove the methodology’s robustness. [Termes IGN] transformation de FourierRésumé : (Auteur) The Radiative Heating in Underexplored Bands Campaign-II, conducted in 2009 from a high-altitude site in northern Chile, combined ground-based radiometry with radiosonde measurements of atmospheric state, for the purpose of testing atmospheric radiation models under conditions strongly influenced by water vapor in the middle to upper troposphere. A suite of broadband Fourier transform spectrometers (FTSs) measured the entire terrestrial thermal radiance spectrum from 1000- to 3.3-um wavelength. The submillimeter portion of the spectrum, from 1000 to 85 um (300-3500 GHz) was covered by a polarizing FTS referred to as the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) FTS. Here, we describe data processing and radiometric calibration algorithms for this instrument. These include correction of interferograms for periodic sampled lag error, development of a temperature-dependent instrument calibration model, and principal component analysis of the complete set of spectra acquired during the campaign. [Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (Auteur) The Thermal Airborne Hyperspectral Imager (TASI) acquires 32 bands to provide continuous spectral coverage in the wavelength range of 8 to 11.5um. The instrument was used during a field campaign in the City of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China, in 2010. Land surface temperature and emissivity were measured near simultaneous with the airborne campaign for calibration and validation of the instrument. Radiance calibration was performed band-by-band using calibration coefficients, and atmospheric correction was performed using data from in situ measurements and the MODTRAN model. Surface temperature and emissivity separation were determined using the ASTER temperature-emissivity separation (ASTER_TES) and iterative spectral smooth temperature and emissivity separation (ISSTES) methods. The ASTER_TES method resulted in satisfactory agreement with ground data, with root mean square error (RMSE) values of 2.2 K for temperature and 0.0460 for broad-emissivity. The ISSTES method provided better ground validation results, with a RMSE for temperature of 1.8 K and a RMSE for broad-emissivity of 0.0394. The emissivity shapes acquired by the two methods were very similar. The results have relevance to studies of global climate change, environmental monitoring, classification, feature mining, and target recognition. [Termes IGN] traçabilitéRésumé : (Auteur) The calibration of remote sensing instruments is a crucial step in the generation of products tied to international reference standards. Calibrating imaging spectrometers is particularly demanding due to the high number of spatiospectral pixels and, consequently, the large amount of data acquired during calibration sequences. Storage of these data and associated metadata in an organized manner, as well as the provision of efficient tools for the data analysis and fast and repeatable calibration coefficient generation with provenance information, is key to the provision of traceable measurements. The airborne prism experiment (APEX) calibration information system is a multilayered information technology solution comprising a database based on the entity-attribute-value (EAV) paradigm and software written in Java and Matlab, providing data access, visualization and processing, and handling the data volumes over the expected lifetime of the system. Although developed in the context of APEX, the system is rather generic and may be adapted to other pushbroom-based imagers with little effort.
