[Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (auteur) This study aims to detect recent landslide displacements caused by geological structure of the region where there is intense urbanization using advanced Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) techniques and with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) observations in the Beylikdüzü and Esenyurt districts in Istanbul megacity, Turkey. In this study, multiple satellites with different frequencies (C-band, L-band) and periodic GNSS observations were employed. For the entire peninsula, we processed 149 images from the ascending orbit, 144 images from the descending orbit of Sentinel-1 (C-Band) and 24 ALOS-2 (L-band) images from the ascending orbit. The evaluations were carried out in the period between 2015 and 2020 for Sentinel-1 imagery and 2015–2020 for ALOS-2 imagery respectively. Since the study area is covered by dense settlements, the Persistent Scatterer InSAR (PSI) technique was utilized to determine the landslide behaviors. According to the results, for both orbits of the Sentinel-1, the horizontal displacement and the vertical displacement were observed in the range of − 10 to 6 mm. Compared to the magnitude of displacement signal measured by Sentinel-1, ALOS-2 data has higher values due to the high surface penetration of the L-band. The results showed that most of the old landslide regions are reactivated. Horizontal movement derived through Sentinel-1 showed that the highest movement overlaps with old landslides. L-band ALOS-2 provided better spatial coverage of landslide movement than C-band Sentinel-1 data, especially at the rural Numéro de notice : A2021-752 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE/POSITIONNEMENT/URBANISME Nature : Article DOI : 10.1007/s11069-021-04875-7 Date de publication en ligne : 20/06/2021 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1007/s11069-021-04875-7 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=98737

[Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (auteur) Along-strike variation in the geometry of lithospheric structures is a key control parameter for the occurrence and propagation of major interplate earthquakes in subduction and collision zones. The lateral segmentation of the Himalayan arc is now well-established from various observations, including topography, gravity anomalies, exhumation rates, and present-day seismic activity. Good knowledge of the main geometric features of these segments and their boundaries is thus the next step to improve seismic hazard assessment in this area. Following recent studies, we focus our approach on the transition zone between Nepal and Bhutan where both M > 8 earthquakes and changes in the geometry of the Indian plate have been documented. Ground gravity data sets are combined with satellite gravity gradients provided by the GOCE mission (Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer) in a joint inversion to assess the location and the geometry of this transition. We obtain a ca. 10 km wide transition zone located at the western border of Bhutan that is aligned with the Madhupur fault in the foreland and coincides with the Dhubri–Chungthang fault zone and the Yadong-Gulu rift in Himalaya and southern Tibet, respectively. This sharp segment boundary at depth can act as a barrier to earthquake rupture propagation. It can possibly restrict the size of large earthquakes and thus reduce the occurrence probability of M > 9 earthquakes along the Main Himalayan Thrust. The GNSS station daily coordinate time series obtained in a double-difference (DD) mode were used. For representation of the sea level dynamics, the Latvian tide gauge records were used. Performed correlation analysis is based on yearly data sets of these observations for the period from 2012 up to 2020. The approach discloses how the non-tidal loading can induce variations in the time series of the regional GNSS station network. This paper increases understanding of the Earth’s surface displacements occurring due to the non-tidal loading effect in Latvia, and is intended to raise the importance and necessity of improved Latvian GNSS time series by removing loading effects. [Termes IGN] problème des valeurs limitesRésumé : (auteur) The geoid is an equipotential surface of the static Earth's gravity field which plays a fundamental role in definition of physical heights related to the mean sea level (orthometric heights) in geodesy and which represents a reference surface in many geoscientific studies. Its determination with the cm-level accuracy or better, in particular over dry land, belongs to major tasks of modern geodesy. Traditional data and underlined theory have significantly been affected in recent years by rapid advances in observation techniques. This study reviews gradients of the disturbing gravity potential, both currently available and foreseen, and systematically discusses mathematical models for geoid determination based on gradient data. Fundamentals required for geoid definition and its estimation from measured potential gradients are shortly reviewed at the beginning of the text. Then particular mathematical models based on solutions to boundary-value problems of the potential theory, which include both integral transforms and integral equations, are formulated. Properties of respective integral kernel functions are demonstrated and discussed. With the new mathematical models introduced, new research topics are opened which must be resolved in order to allow for their full-fledged applicability in geoid modelling. Stochastic modelling is also discussed which estimates gradient spatial resolution and accuracy required for geoid modelling with the cm-level accuracy. Results of stochastic modelling suggest that the cm-geoid can be estimated using available gradient data if related problems, namely reduction of gradient data for gravitational effects of all masses outside the geoid and their downward continuation, are solved at the same level of accuracy. [Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1, Jason-2 and Jason-3 altimeter missions have provided 27 + years of uninterrupted Total Electron Content (TEC) measurements since 1992, with unprecedented precision. Nevertheless, the issue of a possible systematic bias in the data was identified immediately after first TOPEX measurements were compared with measurements from other sources. The bias issue has remained open for decades, and it has increased in complexity because each new mission had its different bias. The purpose of this paper is to assess the problem of TEC bias of altimeters. Two approaches have been followed. The first one relied on the TEC data series of the four altimeters to determine inter-mission systematic biases using the last available data versions for each mission. The second approach consisted of inspecting the missions’ official reports to trace changes of the inter-mission and inter-version biases, including biases relative to DORIS ionospheric measurements. Both approaches have converged and resulted in the determination of a reference frame where missions, instruments and ionospheric reference levels could be compared. This reference frame was also used to analyze results published in representative papers during the last decades, including ionospheric data from the ENVISAT mission. This reference frame could help to assess TEC levels of the announced new data version of Jason-2, Jason-3 and the imminent Jason-CS/Sentinel missions. The main conclusion of this work is that Jason-1, ‘E’ data version, defines a TEC reference level which is compatible with most of the results found in the literature.
