[Termes IGN] Viet NamRésumé : (auteur) A transboundary river is a river that flows through two or more countries. Due to the international policies of the government in each country, it is difficult to investigate the pollution conditions in a transboundary watershed. In this study, pollution sources in the Red River Valley, Southeast Asia were derived from Google Earth by visual interpretation. Based on the derived pollution sources and a simple scoring system, a pollution index map was produced, which provides useful information for intergovernmental cooperation on the water environment in this transboundary watershed. In addition, the method mentioned in this article suggests an efficient and low-cost way to investigate pollution conditions at large scale, which can also be applied to other transboundary watersheds in the future. [Termes IGN] webGLRésumé : (auteur) The internet browsers nowadays show incredible possibilities with HTML5. It makes it possible to use all the power of your device such as the GPU and all its sensors, GPS, accelerometer, camera, etc. The ability to put hardware-accelerated 3D content in the browser provides a way for the creation of new web based applications that were previously the exclusive domain of the desktop environment. This paper introduces a novel implementation of a 3D GIS WebGL-based navigation system which allows end-users to navigate in a 3D realistic and immersive urban scene, to interact with different spatial data such as panoramic image, laser, 3D-city model, and vector data with modern functionalities such as using your smartphone as a remote, render for 3D screen and make the scene dynamic. [Termes IGN] Yunnan (Chine)Résumé : (Auteur) Changes in forest composition impact ecological services, and are considered important factors driving global climate change. A hybrid sampling method along with a modelling approach to map current and past land cover in Kunming, China is reported. MODIS land cover (2001–2011) data-sets were used to detect pixels with no apparent change. Around 3000 ‘no change points’ were systematically selected and sampled using Google Earth’s high-resolution imagery. Thirty-five per cent of these points were verified and used for training and validation. We used Random forests to classify multi-temporal Landsat imagery. Results show that forest cover has had a net decrease of 14385 ha (1.3% of forest area), which was primary converted to shrublands (11%), urban and barren land (2.7%) and agriculture (2.5%). Our validation indicates an overall accuracy (Kappa) of 82%. Our methodology can be used to consistently map the dynamics of land cover change in similar areas with minimum costs. [Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (Auteur) This article contributes to the clarification of the coordinate reference systems (CRS) used by some Web mapping applications. This is a complex issue, mainly because of a lack of pertinent information; there is little published literature on CRS, and information available online – which is not produced by mapping experts – is fragmented and often imprecise. Following a short introduction focusing on Web mapping and the European Petroleum Survey Group (EPSG) database, which is currently maintained and published by the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) Geomatics Committee, the article analyzes the CRS used by some well-known Web mapping applications, such as Google Maps and Bing Maps (planimetric browsers) and Google Earth (virtual globe). Some geodetic technical information is given, with reference to the main desktop GIS software libraries and to reports on CRS queried from different versions of the EPSG database (2008–2013).
