[Termes descripteurs IGN] traitement d'image radarRésumé : (éditeur) The aim of this book is to demonstrate the use of SAR data in three application domains, i.e. land cover (Part II), topography (Part III), and land motion (Part IV). These are preceded by Part I, where an extensive and complete review on speckle and adaptive filtering is provided, essential for the understanding of SAR images. Part II is dedicated to land cover mapping. Part III is devoted to the generation of Digital Elevation Models based on radargrammetry and on a wise fusion (by considering sensor characteristic and acquisition geometry) of interferometric and photogrammetric elevation data. Part IV provides a contribution to three applications related to land motion. Note de contenu : 1- Adaptive speckle filtering in radar imagery

[Termes descripteurs IGN] polarimétrie radarRésumé : (Auteur) Orthorectification using digital terrain models is a key issue for full-polarimetric complex SAR data because resampling the complex data can corrupt the polarimetric phase, mainly in terrain with relief. This research thus compared two methods for the orthorectification of the complex SAR data: The polarimetric processing is performed before (image-space method) or after (ground-space method) the geometric processing. Radarsat-2 fine-quad data acquired with different look angles over a hilly relief study site were orthorectified using accurate light detection and ranging digital surface model. Quantitative evaluations between the two methods as a function of different geometric and radiometric parameters were thus performed to evaluate the impact during orthorectification. The results demonstrated that the look angles and the terrain slopes can potentially corrupt the polarimetric complex SAR data during its orthorectification with the ground-space method. In addition, general advice is provided to reduce these impacts to an acceptable level for the users and their polarimetric applications. [Termes descripteurs IGN] tomographie radarRésumé : (Auteur) Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) tomography is a 3-D imaging modality that is commonly tackled by spectral estimation techniques. Thus, the backscattered power along the cross-range direction can be readily obtained by computing the Fourier spectrum of a stack of multibaseline measurements. In addition, recent work has addressed the tomographic inversion under the framework of compressed sensing, thereby recovering sparse cross-range profiles from a reduced set of measurements. This paper differs from previous publications, in that it focuses on sparse expansions in the wavelet domain while working with the second-order statistics of the corresponding multibaseline measurements. In this regard, we elaborate on the conditions under which this perspective is applicable to forested areas and discuss the possibility of optimizing the acquisition geometry. Finally, we compare this approach with traditional nonparametric ones and validate it by using fully polarimetric L-band data acquired by the Experimental SAR (E-SAR) sensor of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). [Termes descripteurs IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) In the recent years, there has been increased interest in using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to study and monitor glaciers and ice sheets for glaciological and climate change research. This paper describes the estimation of ice extinctions through the modeling of polarimetric interferometric SAR (Pol-InSAR) coherences as a combination of a surface contribution (from the snow-firn interface and wind-induced sastrugi features) and a volume response. Ground-to-volume scattering ratios derived from a novel polarimetric decomposition are used in conjunction with Pol-InSAR coherence magnitudes to invert the extinction of the ice layer. The inversion is performed for experimental airborne Pol-InSAR data at L-band and P-band acquired by the German Aerospace Center's (DLR) E-SAR system over the Austfonna ice cap in Svalbard, Norway, as part of the 2007 IceSAR campaign. Extinction dependences on frequency and glacier facie are investigated, and validation is performed comparing ground-penetrating radar data to SAR backscatter and extinction values. Best extinction results are obtained at shallow incidence angles with small wavenumbers and for low ground-to-volume scattering ratios. For swath areas in mid range to far range, accuracies of 25% in extinction are anticipated when averaging over 100 effective looks for a four-baseline inversion constraining solutions to vertical wavenumbers of 0.01 Numéro de notice : A2013-305 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2012.2220855 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1109/TGRS.2012.2220855 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32443

[Termes descripteurs IGN] végétationRésumé : (auteur) The main objective of the research presented in this article is to analyse the polarimetric characteristics of three main types of natural vegetation occurring in the Biebrza National Park – forests, shrubs and non-forest land communities covering wetlands. The variability of many different polarimetric products of signal decomposition, depending on the type of vegetation, the microwave image acquisition period and the method of their preliminary treatment, was analysed. An attempt was also made to assess how much polari-metric methods can be useful for modelling biophysical parameters of vegetation. The study used six dual-polarized (HH and HV) ALOS satellite images recorded during the growing season in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010. The images were processed in parallel, using different parameters, in order to estimate the impact of the spatial resolution of images and methods of speckle noise filtering on the value of polarimetric characteristics of different types of vegetation. All methods of polarimetric signal decompositions available using ESA POLSARPRO 4.2 software were tested. Three of them, i.e. the Alpha parameter from the H/A/Alpha decomposition (Cloud and Pottier, 1996) containing information about the dominant scattering mechanisms and two types of entropy: the entropy from the H/A/Alpha decomposition and the Shannon Entropy were selected for further analysis. The analysed years differed quite significantly from one another in the agro-meteorological conditions of plant growth. It was a cause of significant differences between the values of polarimetric characteristics in images recorded at the same season but in different years. During the growing season individual products of polarimetric signal decomposition are characterized by different variability. This demonstrates the dependence of different polarimetric characteristics on various biophysical parameters of the environment. It was observed that they are characterized by greater information content than the backscattering coefficient, especially if they are subjected to the process of increasing the resolution (oversampling). They can be used to model the biophysical parameters of vegetation.
