[Termes IGN] pouvoir de résolution géométriqueRésumé : (auteur) Most pansharpening methods refer to the fusion of the original low-resolution multispectral (MS) and high-resolution panchromatic (PAN) images acquired simultaneously over the same area. Due to its good robustness, multiresolution analysis (MRA) has become one of the important categories of pansharpening methods. However, when only MS and PAN images acquired at different times can be provided, the fusion results from current MRA methods are often not ideal due to the failure to effectively analyze multitemporal misalignments between MS and PAN images from different times. To solve this issue, MRA pansharpening based on variation factor for MS and PAN images from different times is proposed. The MRA pansharpening based on dual-scale regression model is first established, and the variation factor is then introduced to effectively analyze the multitemporal misalignments by using the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), yielding the final fusion results. Experiments with synthetic and real datasets show that the proposed method exhibits significant performance improvement compared to the traditional pansharpening methods, as well as the state-of-the-art MRA methods. Visual comparisons demonstrate that the variation factor introduces encouraging improvements in the compensation of multitemporal misalignments in ground objects and advances pansharpening applications for MS and PAN images acquired at different times. [Termes IGN] précision de la classificationRésumé : (auteur) Pan Sharpening is normally applied to sharpen a multispectral image with low resolution by using a panchromatic image with a higher resolution, to generate a high resolution multispectral image. The present study aims at assessing the power of Pan Sharpening on improvement of the accuracy of image classification and land cover mapping in Landsat 8 OLI imagery. In this respect, different Pan Sharpening algorithms including Brovey, Gram-Schmidt, NNDiffuse, and Principal Components were applied to merge the Landsat OLI panchromatic band (15 m) with the Landsat OLI multispectral: visible and infrared bands (30 m), to generate a new multispectral image with a higher spatial resolution (15 m). Subsequently, the support vector machine approach was utilized to classify the original Landsat and resulting Pan Sharpened images to generate land cover maps of the study area. The outcomes were then compared through the generation of confusion matrix and calculation of kappa coefficient and overall accuracy. The results indicated superiority of NNDiffuse algorithm in Pan Sharpening and improvement of classification accuracy in Landsat OLI imagery, with an overall accuracy and kappa coefficient of about 98.66% and 0.98, respectively. Furthermore, the result showed that the Gram-Schmidt and Principal Components algorithms also slightly improved the accuracy of image classification compared to original Landsat image. The study concluded that image Pan Sharpening is useful to improve the accuracy of image classification in Landsat OLI imagery, depending on the Pan Sharpening algorithm used for this purpose. [Termes IGN] pansharpening (fusion d'images)Résumé : (auteur) Hyperspectral (HS) image pansharpening is of great importance in improving the spatial resolution for many commercial platforms and remote sensing tasks. Convolutional neural network (CNN) has recently been applied in pansharpening. However, most existing CNN-based pansharpening models followed an early-fusion/late-fusion strategy, which integrates the low-level/high-level features of panchromatic (PAN) and HS streams at the input-output of the network. It is difficult to learn more complex combinations between PAN and HS streams. This article proposes a novel end-to-end residual hyperdense pansharpening network with a cross-guided pyramid attention (called RHDcgpaNet). The overall architecture of the proposed method is a residual hyperdense network, which extends the definition of dense connections to two-stream pansharpening problem. The proposed RHDcgpaNet allows guidance from the state of the preceding layers to all the layers in- between PAN and HS streams in a feed-forward manner, significantly increasing the learning representation. A cross-guided pyramid attention is designed and embedded to the proposed residual hyperdense network to yield more useful spatial–spectral feature transfer in network. Extensive experiments on widely used datasets demonstrate that the proposed RHDcgpaNet achieves favorable performance in comparison to the state-of-the-art methods. [Termes IGN] lissage de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The main difficulty of panchromatic-multispectral image fusion is to balance the quality of spatial information and the spectral fidelity. Most of the practical fusion methods determine the optimal parameters based on the spatial and spectral characteristics of all original panchromatic and multispectral bands. However, for built-up and non-built-up areas (like cropland, forest) in one image, there may be large differences in their spatial and spectral characteristics, so their fused results are not optimal respectively with same parameters. To address above issues, this paper presents a high-resolution satellite image fusion method assisted with building segmentation. First, the proposed approach computes the average gradient and Gaussian filtering parameters of built-up and non-built-up areas separately according to the building segmentation results, on the basis of smoothing filter-based intensity modulation (SFIM). Then the intermediate data of two types of areas are computed in parallel and they are composited to obtain the final fused image, weighted by the pixel-wise “building factors” derived from the building segmentation results. Moreover, to better simulate the spatial characteristics of the multispectral image, we perform the “gradient simulation” operation to extract the gradient values in the multispectral image. Experimental results on Jilin-1 satellite images show that the proposed method provides competitive performance in spatial resolution, multispectral fidelity and quantity of information, as compared to the state-of-the-art methods in mainstream commercial software. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal artificielRésumé : (auteur) In agricultural systems, the regular monitoring of Soil Organic Matter (SOM) dynamics is essential. This task is costly and time-consuming when using the conventional method, especially in a very fragmented area and with intensive agricultural activity, such as the area of Sidi Bennour. The study area is located in the Doukkala irrigated perimeter in Morocco. Satellite data can provide an alternative and fill this gap at a low cost. Models to predict SOM from a satellite image, whether linear or nonlinear, have shown considerable interest. This study aims to compare SOM prediction using Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). A total of 368 points were collected at a depth of 0–30 cm and analyzed in the laboratory. An image at 15 m resolution (MSPAN) was produced from a 30 m resolution (MS) Landsat-8 image using image pansharpening processing and panchromatic band (15 m). The results obtained show that the MLR models predicted the SOM with (training/validation) R2 values of 0.62/0.63 and 0.64/0.65 and RMSE values of 0.23/0.22 and 0.22/0.21 for the MS and MSPAN images, respectively. In contrast, the ANN models predicted SOM with R2 values of 0.65/0.66 and 0.69/0.71 and RMSE values of 0.22/0.10 and 0.21/0.18 for the MS and MSPAN images, respectively. Image pansharpening improved the prediction accuracy by 2.60% and 4.30% and reduced the estimation error by 0.80% and 1.30% for the MLR and ANN models, respectively.
