[Termes IGN] zone polaireRésumé : (auteur) Spatial leakage is a major limitation for quantitative interpretation of satellite gravity measurements from the gravity recovery and climate experiment (GRACE). Using synthetic data to simulate ice mass changes in the Amundsen Sea Embayment and Antarctic Peninsula, we analyze quantitatively the effects of a limited range of spherical harmonics (SH) coefficients and additional filtering, which in combination can significantly attenuate signal amplitudes. We present details of a forward modeling algorithm and show that it is capable of removing these biases from GRACE estimates. Examples show how to implement the method by constraining locations of presumed mass changes, or leaving these locations unspecified within a continental region. Our analysis indicates that leakage effects from far-field mass signals (e.g., terrestrial water storage change and glacial melting over other continents) on Antarctic mass rate estimates appear to be negligible. However, leakage from long-term ocean bottom pressure change in the surrounding Antarctic Circumpolar Current regions may bias Antarctic mass rate estimates by up to 20 Gigatonne per year (Gt/year). Experiments based on proxy GRACE measurement noise indicate that the effects of GRACE spatial noise on estimated Antarctic mass rates via constrained and unconstrained forward modelings are ∼5 and 15 Gt/year, respectively. [Termes IGN] température de surface de la merRésumé : (Auteur) Sea surface temperature (SST) plays a vital role in the Earth's atmosphere and climate systems. Complete and accurate SST observations are in great demand for forecasting tropical cyclones and projecting climate change. Satellite remote sensing has been used to retrieve SST globally, but missing values and biased observations impose difficulties on practical applications of these satellite-derived SST data. Conventional spatial statistics methods such as kriging have been widely used to fill the gaps. However, when such conventional methods are used to analyze a massive satellite data set of size n, the inversion of the n × n covariance matrix may require O(n3) computations, which make the computation very intensive or even infeasible. The fixed rank kriging (FRK) performs dimension reduction through multiresolution wavelet analysis so that it can dramatically reduce the computation cost of various kriging methods. However, the FRK cannot directly be used for incomplete data over spatially irregular regions such as SSTs, and the potential bias in the satellite data is not addressed. In this paper, we construct a data-driven bias-correction model for the correction of the bias in satellite SSTs and develop a robust FRK (R-FRK) method so that the dimension reduction can be used to the satellite data in irregular regions with missing data. We implement the bias-correction model and the R-FRK to the level-3 mapped night Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer SSTs. The accuracy of the resulting predictions is assessed using the colocated drifting buoy SST observations, in terms of mean bias (bias), root-mean-squared error, and R squared (R2). The spatial completeness is assessed by the availability of ocean pixels. The assessment results show that the spatially. [Termes IGN] teneur en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Auteur) Global pressure and temperature 2 wet (GPT2w) is an empirical troposphere delay model providing the mean values plus annual and semiannual amplitudes of pressure, temperature and its lapse rate, water vapor pressure and its decrease factor, weighted mean temperature, as well as hydrostatic and wet mapping function coefficients of the Vienna mapping function 1. All climatological parameters have been derived consistently from monthly mean pressure level data of ERA-Interim fields (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts Re-Analysis) with a horizontal resolution of 1°, and the model is suitable to calculate slant hydrostatic and wet delays down to 3° elevation at sites in the vicinity of the earth surface using the date and approximate station coordinates as input. The wet delay estimation builds upon gridded values of the water vapor pressure, the weighted mean temperature, and the water vapor decrease factor, with the latter being tuned to ray-traced zenith wet delays. Comparisons with zenith delays at 341 globally distributed global navigation satellite systems stations show that the mean bias over all stations is below 1 mm and the mean standard deviation is about 3.6 cm. The GPT2w model with the gridded input file is provided at. [Termes IGN] signal BeiDouRésumé : (Auteur) The inter-satellite-type bias (ISTB) is a receiver-dependent hardware delay/bias between different satellite types. Our recent research revealed the existence of nonzero mixed-receiver phase ISTBs for the Chinese BeiDou system. Triggered by this finding, global navigation satellite system receiver manufactures, who are in the early stage of BeiDou-enabled receiver developments, are working toward a mutually consistent measurement extraction procedure. We analyze the long-term stability and current status of the mixed-receiver ISTBs, as well as study their impact on BeiDou stand-alone real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning. Our results confirm that a recent update in one of the receiver types has aligned it with one of the other receiver types. However, since not all receiver types are aligned yet, nonzero mixed-receiver ISTBs are shown to be still present. Analyses of BeiDou stand-alone RTK positioning using mixed-receiver types demonstrate that ISTBs could seriously affect the integer ambiguity resolution performance and that a priori correction for these biases will dramatically improve the success rate. Our analyses using real data from three different receiver types also demonstrate the long-term stability of the ISTBs, thus showing that such a priori calibration is indeed possible.
