Note de contenu : 1- Introduction

[Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (auteur) As interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data improve in their global coverage and temporal sampling, studies of ground deformation using InSAR are becoming feasible even in heavily vegetated regions such as the American Pacific Northwest (PNW) and Sumatra. However, ongoing forest disturbance due to logging, wildfires, or disease can introduce time-variable signals which could be misinterpreted as ground displacements. This study constrains the error introduced into InSAR time series in the presence of time-variable forest disturbance using synthetic data. For satellite platforms with randomly distributed orbital positions in time (e.g., Sentinel-1), mid-time series forest disturbance results in random error on the order of 0.2 and 10 cm/year for 1-year secular and time-variable velocities, respectively. If the orbital positions are not randomly distributed in time (e.g., ALOS-1), a biased error on the order of 10 cm/year is introduced to the inferred secular velocity. A time series using real ALOS-1 data near Eugene, OR, USA, shows agreement with the bias estimated by synthetic models. Mitigation of time-variable land cover change effects can be achieved if their timing is known, either through independent observations of surface properties (e.g., Landsat/Sentinel-2) or through the use of more computationally expensive, nonlinear inversions with additional terms for the timing of height changes. Inclusion of these additional terms reduces the potential for misinterpretation of InSAR signals associated with land surface change as ground deformation. [Termes IGN] système de référence géodésiqueRésumé : (auteur) Our planet Earth is constantly deforming under the effects of geophysical processes that cause linear and nonlinear displacements of the geodetic stations upon which the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) is established. The ITRF has traditionally been defined as a secular (linear) frame in which station coordinates are described by piecewise linear functions of time. Nowadays, some particularly demanding applications however require more elaborate reference frame representations that can accommodate non-linear displacements of the reference stations. Two such types of reference frame representations are reviewed: the usual linear frame enhanced with additional parametric functions such as seasonal sine waves, and non-parametric time series of quasi-instantaneous reference frames. After introducing those two reference frame representations, we briefly review the systematic errors present in geodetic station position time series. We finally discuss the practical issues raised by the existence of these systematic errors for the implementation of both types of non-linear reference frames. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) High-quality satellite orbits and clocks are necessary for multi-GNSS precise point positioning and timing. In undifferenced GNSS solutions, the quality of orbit and clock products significantly influences the resulting position accuracy; therefore, for precise positioning in real time, the corrections for orbits and clocks are generated and distributed to users. In this research, we assess the quality and the availability of real-time CNES orbits and clocks for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou-2 separated by satellite blocks and types, as well as the product quality changes over time. We calculate the signal-in-space ranging error (SISRE) as the main orbit and clock quality indicator. Moreover, we employ independent orbit validation based on satellite laser ranging. We found that the most accurate orbits are currently available for GPS. However, Galileo utmost stable atomic clocks compensate for systematic errors in Galileo orbits. As a result, the SISRE for Galileo is lower than that for GPS, equaling 1.6 and 2.3 cm for Galileo and GPS, respectively. The GLONASS satellites, despite the high quality of their orbits, are characterized by poor quality of clocks, and together with BeiDou-2 in medium and geosynchronous inclined orbits, are characterized by SISRE of 4–6 cm. BeiDou-2 in geostationary orbits is characterized by large orbital errors and the lowest availability of real-time orbit and clock corrections due to a large number of satellite maneuvers. The quality of GNSS orbit and clock corrections changes over time and depends on satellite type, block, orbit characteristics, onboard atomic clock, and the sun elevation above the orbital plane. [Termes IGN] variation diurneRésumé : (auteur) As one of the important factors influencing the ionospheric total electron content (TEC) estimation accuracy, receiver differential code biases (DCBs) should be properly removed from global navigation satellite system (GNSS) measurements. The intraday variability in receiver DCBs (rDCBs), which is usually ignored in the commonly used ionospheric observable retrieval procedure, has been identified as one of the major errors degrading the accuracy of TEC estimation. The modified carrier-to-code leveling (MCCL) method can be adopted to eliminate the impact of the rDCB variability on the retrieval of the ionospheric TEC from dual-frequency (DF) GNSS observations. In this contribution, we extend the MCCL method from two aspects. First, the DF MCCL method is adapted to the multi-frequency (MF) case, in which DF, triple-frequency or even arbitrary-frequency observations can be readily processed to simultaneously estimate both the ionospheric TEC and rDCB variations. Second, the MCCL method is refined to enable the handling of GLONASS data by accounting for the effects of code inter-frequency biases induced by the frequency division multiple access (FDMA) technology. Based on the test results, the retrieval accuracy of the ionospheric TEC using our proposed method can be improved from 9.47 TECu to 2.67 TECu in the presence of significant intraday rDCB variations. We discovered that the maximum difference in the rDCB variations of the same satellite system between different frequency bands can be as large as 10 ns. The dependence of multi-GNSS and MF rDCB variations on the ambient temperature is further verified in this study. The results show that the temperature dependence of rDCB varies among different satellite systems and frequency bands. Compared to the Galileo, GPS and GLONASS satellite systems, the Beidou system (BDS) rDCB estimates exhibit a stronger correlation with the measured temperature. The percentages of stations with the mean absolute Pearson correlation coefficient value above 0.8 are 27.17% for GPS, 30.58% for GLONASS, 43.78% for BDS and 33.9% for Galileo, respectively.
