By providing information about the presence of threats, classification and clustering of radar signals have a significant role ensuring that countermeasures against enemies are well-chosen and enabling detection of unknown radar signals to update databases. Most of the time, Electronic Support Measures systems receive mixtures of signals from different radar emitters in the electromagnetic environment. Hence a radar signal, described by a pulse-to-pulse modulation pattern, is often partially observed due to missing measurements and measurement errors. The identification process relies on statistical analysis of basic measurable parameters of a radar signal which constitute both quantitative and qualitative data. Many general and practical approaches based on data fusion and machine learning have been developed and traditionally proceed to feature extraction, dimensionality reduction and classification or clustering. However, these algorithms cannot handle missing data and imputation methods are required to generate data to use them. Hence, the main objective of this work is to define a classification/clustering framework that handles both outliers and missing values for any types of data. Here, an approach based on mixture models is developed since mixture models provide a mathematically based, flexible and meaningful framework for the wide variety of classification and clustering requirements. The proposed approach focuses on the introduction of latent variables that give us the possibility to handle sensitivity of the model to outliers and to allow a less restrictive modelling of missing data. A Bayesian treatment is adopted for model learning, supervised classification and clustering and inference is processed through a variational Bayesian approximation since the joint posterior distribution of latent variables and parameters is untractable. Some numerical experiments on synthetic and real data show that the proposed method provides more accurate results than standard algorithms. Note de contenu : Introduction

Owing to the varying appearance and large-scale range of scene objects, especially for building rooftops in different scales and heights, single-scale or individual prior-based extraction technique is insufficient in pursuing efficient, generic, and accurate extraction results. The trend toward integrating multiscale or several cue techniques appears to be the best way; thus, such integration is the focus of this paper. We first propose a novel salient rooftop detector integrating four correlative RGB-D priors (depth cue, uniqueness prior, shape prior, and transition surface prior) for improved rooftop extraction to address the preceding complex issues mentioned. Then, these correlative cues are computed from image layers created by our multilevel segmentation and further fused into the state-of-the-art high-order conditional random field (CRF) framework to locate the rooftop. Finally, an iterative optimization strategy is applied for high-quality solving, which can robustly handle varying appearance of building rooftops. Performance evaluations in the SZTAKI-INRIA benchmark data sets show that our method outperforms the traditional color-based algorithm and the original high-order CRF algorithm and its variants. The proposed algorithm is also evaluated and found to produce consistently satisfactory results for various large-scale, real-world data sets. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) With the current expansion of cities, urban trees have an important role for preserving the health of its inhabitants. With their evapotranspiration, they reduce the urban heat island phenomenon, by trapping CO2 emission, improve air quality. In particular, street trees or alignment trees, create shade on the road network, are structuring elements of the cities and decorate the roads. Street trees are also subject to specific conditions as they have little space for growth, are pruned and can be affected by the spread of diseases in single-species plantations. Thus, their detection, identification and monitoring are necessary. In this study, an approach is proposed for mapping these trees that are characteristic of the urban environment. Three areas of the city of Toulouse in the south of France are studied. Airborne hyperspectral data and a Digital Surface Model (DSM) for high vegetation detection are used. Then, contextual information is used to identify the street trees. Indeed, Geographic Information System (GIS) data are considered to detect the vegetation canopies close to the streets. Afterwards, individual street tree crown delineation is carried out by modeling the discriminative contextual features of individual street trees (hypotheses of small angle between the trees and similar heights) based on Marked Point Process (MPP). Compared to a baseline individual tree crown delineation method based on region growing, our method logically provides the best results with F-score values of 91%, 75% and 85% against 70%, 41% and 20% for the three studied areas respectively. Our approach mainly succeeds in identifying the street trees. In addition, the contribution of the angle, the height and the GIS data in the street tree mapping has been studied. The results encourage the use of the angle, the height and the GIS data together. However, with only the angle and the height, the results are similar to those obtained with the inclusion of the GIS data for the first and the second study cases with F-score values of 88%, 79% and 62% against 91%, 75% and 85% for the three study cases respectively. Finally, it is shown that the GIS data only is not sufficient. [Termes IGN] varianceRésumé : (auteur) In a previous paper, published in 2012 in this journal we conducted comparison between the CoMet software and others least squares network adjustment applications in order to validate the ComeT application. To perform such comparisons, we generated several sets of measurements in networks sharing the same geometry but different side lengths, and compared the obtainedresults in terms of adjusted coordinates and estimated variance factor. The purpose of this contribution is to review and discuss some common methods used for generating observations and to present in more detail our method, the one used in the previous article, which present some specific properties. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Information on spatial distribution of buildings must be explored as part of the process of map generalization. A new approach is proposed in this article, which combines building classification and clustering to enable the detection of class differences within a pattern, as well as patterns within a class. To do this, an analysis of existing parameters describing building characteristics is performed via principal component analysis (PCA), and four major parameters (i.e. convex hull area, IPQ compactness, number of edges, and smallest minimum bounding rectangle orientation) are selected for further classification based on similarities between building characteristics. A building clustering method based on minimum spanning tree (MST) considering rivers and roads is then applied. Theory and experiments show that use of a relative neighbor graph (RNG) is more effective in detecting linear building patterns than either a nearest neighbor graph (NNG), an MST, or a Gabriel graph (GssG). Building classification and clustering are therefore conducted separately using experimental data extracted from OpenStreetMap (OSM), and linear patterns are then recognized within resultant clusters. Experimental results show that the approach proposed in this article is both reasonable and efficient for mining information on the spatial distribution of buildings for map generalization.
