[Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (Auteur) Kriging is a widely employed method for interpolating and estimating elevations from digital elevation data. Its place of prominence is due to its elegant theoretical foundation and its convenient practical implementation. From an interpolation point of view, kriging is equivalent to a thin -plate spline and is one species among the many in the genus of weighted inverse distance methods, albeit with attractive properties. However, from a statistical point of view, kriging is a best linear unbiased estimator and, consequently, has a place of distinction among all spatial estimators because any other linear estimator that performs as well as kriging ( in the least squares sense) must be equivalent to kriging, assuming that the parmeters of the semivariogram are known. Therefore, kriging is often held to be gold standard of digital terrain model estimation. However, i prove that, when used with local support, kriging creates discontinuous digital terrain models, which is to say, surfaces with "rips" and "tears" throughout them. This results is generaly ; it is true for ordinary kriging with a trend, and other forms. A U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) digital elevation model was analyzed to characterize the distribution of the discontinuities. I show that the magnitude of the discontinuity does not depend on surface gradient but is strongly dependant on the size of the kriging neighborhood. [Termes IGN] varianceRésumé : (Auteur) A variety of mathematical models exist with which to combine long-wavelength geoid information from an Earth gravity model (EGM) with terrestrial gravity data. As new data become available, such as an extended or refined EGM and/or some variance-covariance information from terrestrial gravity data, this new information can be combined with a previous geoid model through a so-called hybrid estimator. The hybrid estimator is defined as a two-step estimator, which provides a solution that is a compromise between computational labour and matching of the entire data set. Some commonly used geoid modifications are compared, and several hybrid estimators are introduced. It is concluded that, in general, hybrid estimators linking the new information to old data by the least squares principle should be preferred to deterministic combinations. [Termes IGN] reconnaissance de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur) When assessing fire danger, interpolation of the dependent variable-historic fire occurrence-is required in order to statistically compare and analyze it with human factors, environmental parameters and census statistics. To confirm the compatibility between the distinct data types, occasionally, for this kind of spatial analysis, historical observations of the primary wildland fire (given as x and y coordinates) must be transformed either to continuous surfaces or to area data. The simple overlay approach converts single point observations to area data. However, this procedure assumes lack of spatial uncertainties that would otherwise result in serious errors caused by the positional inaccuracies of the original point observations.
Here, we used kernel density interpolation to convert the original data on wildland fire ignition into an expression of areal units, defined by a raster grid and, subsequently, by the administrative borders of the municipalities in two study areas in Spain. By overlaying a normal bivariate probability density function (kernel) over each point observation, each ignition point was considered an uncertain point location rather than an exact one.Numéro de notice : A2004-385 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/GEOMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.rse.2004.06.022 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2004.06.022 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26912

[Termes IGN] points homologuesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper is concerned with using linear features in aerial triangulation. Without loss of generality, the focus is on straight lines with the attempt to treat tie lines in the same fashion as tie points. The parameters of tie lines appear in the block adjustment like the tie points do. This requires a unique representation of lines in object space. We propose a four-parameter representation that also offers a meaningful stochastic interpretation of the line parameters. The proposed line representation lends itself to a parameterized form, allowing use of the collinearity model for expressing orientation and tie line parameters as a function of points measured on image lines. The paper describes in detail the derivation of the extended collinearity model and discusses the advantages of this new approach compared to the standard coplanarity model that is used in line photogrammetry. The intention of the paper is to make a contribution to feature-based aerial triangulation on the algorithmic level. [Termes IGN] méthode des moindres carrésRésumé : (Auteur) One of the challenges in remote sensing image processing is subpixel detection where the target size is smaller than the ground sampling distance, therefore, embedded in a single pixel. Under such a circumstance, these targets can be only detected spectrally at the subpixel level, not spatially as ordinarily conducted by classical image processing techniques. This paper investigates a more challenging issue than subpixel detection, which is the estimation of target size at the subpixel level. More specifically, when a subpixel target is detected, we would like to know "what is the size of this particular target within the pixel?" The proposed approach is to estimate the abundance fraction of a subpixel target present in a pixel, then find what portion it contributes to the pixel that can be used to determine the size of the subpixel target by multiplying the ground sampling distance. In order to make our idea work, the subpixel target abundance fraction must be accurately estimated to truly reflect the portion of a subpixel target occupied within a pixel. So, a fully constrained linear unmixing method is required to reliably estimate the abundance fractions of a subpixel target for its size estimation. In this paper, a recently developed fully constrained least squares linear unmixing is used for this purpose. Experiments are conducted to demonstrate the utility of the proposed method in comparison with an unconstrained linear unmixing method, onconstrained least squares method, two partially constrained last square linear unmixing methods, sum-to-one constrained least squares, and nonnegativity constrained least squares.
