[Termes IGN] gravimétrie aérienneRésumé : (Auteur) A method for airborne vector gravimetry has been developed. The method is based on developing the error dynamics equations of the INS in the inertial frame where the INS system errors are estimated in a wave estimator using inertial GPS position as update. Then using the error-corrected INS acceleration and the GPS acceleration in the inertial frame, the gravity disturbance vector is extracted. In the paper, the focus is on the improvement of accuracy for the horizontal components of the airborne gravity vector. This is achieved by using a decoupled model in the wave estimator and decorrelating the gravity disturbance from the INS system errors through the estimation process. The results of this method on the real strapdown INS/DGPS data are promising. The internal accuracy of the horizontal components of the estimated gravity disturbance for repeated airborne lines is comparable with the accuracy of the down component and is about 4–8 mGal. Better accuracy (2–4 mGal) is achieved after applying a wave-number correlation filter (WCF) to the parallel lines of the estimated airborne gravity disturbances. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (Auteur) Crown base height (CBH) is an important factor in relation to several characteristics of the tree stock. This paper introduces approaches for estimating tree-level CBH from airborne laser scanning (ALS) data that make use of features of computational geometry. For that purpose, the concepts of Delaunay triangulations and alpha shapes were applied and compared with approaches based on analysing return frequencies and predicting CBH by linear regression. These approaches were evaluated using test data on a total of 185 Scots pine trees, of which 136 were of sawlog size, that were detected and delineated from ALS data with a density of approximately 4 returns m-2. The results suggest that variables based on the frequencies of crown returns within predefined height bins are the most accurate for estimating CBH. By combining the best CBH estimate with the estimated tree height in linear regression, a root mean squared error (RMSE) of 1.4 m (14%) was achieved when all study trees were considered. The estimation was generally less accurate for the trees smaller than those of sawlog size. Although the accuracy of estimating CBH is lower using the three-dimensional (3D) geometry approaches presented here, they are considered to have potential for further development. [Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (Auteur) A quater of the heat generated in our houses is lost through roofs. Replacement of the entire roof is too costly for most homeowners, who would prefer to carry out focused repair work. For this they need to know exactly where the roof is leaking. An in-situ thermal survey is expensive, and thus an unattractive option. Home Energy Assessment Technologies, HEAT, represents software, hardware, data provision and web-portal service that enables free-of charge, automatic assessment of domestic waste-heat footprints by simply clicking on their house in Google maps. [Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) Starting in 2001 the EUREF Permanent Network (EPN) Local Analysis Centres (LAC) are delivering Zenith Total Delay (ZTD) parameters which were combined at the BKG (Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie, Germany) combination facility. The results have been step-by-step improved, depending on several changes of the processing scheme, leading to an internal precision of 2-3 mm ZTD. The availability of a set of homogeneously processed GPS satellite orbits, clocks and Earth Rotation Parameters (ERP) covering a period of more than a decade (the so-called Potsdam-Dresden reprocessing) motivated MUT (Military University of Technology, Poland) to the all-in-one processing of the EPN stations for the same period. The applied strategy thereby followed the guidelines for EPN processing. While the improvement in coordinate estimation has been recently demonstrated, this paper investigates the quality of the ZTD parameters estimated together with the coordinates. Comparisons with the existing EUREF combined solution, with IGS solutions and with radiosonde data will be presented to evaluate the possible improvement in ZTD estimation by reprocessing activities. [Termes IGN] système complexeRésumé : (Auteur) Many researchers throughout the world have been struggling to better understand and describe spatial data infrastructures (SDIs). Our knowledge of the real forces and mechanisms behind SDIs is still very limited. The reason for this difficulty might lie in the complex, dynamic and multifaceted nature of SDIs. To evaluate the functioning and effects of SDIs we must have a proper theory and understanding of their nature. This article describes a new approach to understanding SDIs by looking at them through the lens of complex adaptive systems (CASs). CASs are frequently described by the following features and behaviours: complexity, components, self-organization, openness, unpredictability, nonlinearity and adaptability, scale-independence, existence of feedback loop mechanism and sensitivity to initial conditions. In this article both CAS and SDI features are presented, examined and compared using three National SDI case studies from the Netherlands, Australia and Poland. These three National SDIs were carefully analysed to identify CAS features and behaviours. In addition, an Internet survey of SDI experts was carried out to gauge the degree to which they consider SDIs and CASs to be similar. This explorative study provides evidence that to a certain extent SDIs can be viewed as CASs because they have many features in common and behave in a similar way. Studying SDIs as CASs has significant implications for our understanding of SDIs. It will help us to identify and better understand the key factors and conditions for SDI functioning. Assuming that SDIs behave much like CASs, this also has implications for their assessment: assessment techniques typical for linear and predictable systems may not be valid for complex and adaptive systems. This implies that future studies on the development of an SDI assessment framework must consider the complex and adaptive nature of SDIs.
