[Termes IGN] photogrammétrie terrestreRésumé : (auteur) Metric calibration is a critical prerequisite to the application of modern, mostly consumer-grade digital cameras for close-range photogrammetric measurement. This paper reviews aspects of sensor modelling and photogrammetric calibration, with attention being focussed on techniques of automated self-calibration. Following an initial overview of the history and the state of the art, selected topics of current interest within calibration for close-range photogrammetry are addressed. These include sensor modelling, with standard, extended and generic calibration models being summarised, along with non-traditional camera systems. Self-calibration via both targeted planar arrays and targetless scenes amenable to SfM-based exterior orientation are then discussed, after which aspects of calibration and measurement accuracy are covered. Whereas camera self-calibration is largely a mature technology, there is always scope for additional research to enhance the models and processes employed with the many camera systems nowadays utilised in close-range photogrammetry. [Termes IGN] positionnement par GPSRésumé : (auteur) On 17 April 2011, all analysis centers (ACs) of the International GNSS Service (IGS) adopted the reference frame realization IGS08 and the corresponding absolute antenna phase center model igs08.atx for their routine analyses. The latter consists of an updated set of receiver and satellite antenna phase center offsets and variations (PCOs and PCVs). An update of the model was necessary due to the difference of about 1 ppb in the terrestrial scale between two consecutive realizations of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF2008 vs. ITRF2005), as that parameter is highly correlated with the GNSS satellite antenna PCO components in the radial direction. For the receiver antennas, more individual calibrations could be considered and GLONASS-specific correction values were added. For the satellite antennas, all correction values except for the GPS PCVs were newly estimated considering more data than for the former model. Satellite-specific PCOs for all GPS satellites active since 1994 could be derived from reprocessed solutions of five ACs generated within the scope of the first IGS reprocessing campaign. Two ACs separately derived a full set of corrections for all GLONASS satellites active since 2003. Ignoring scale-related biases, the accuracy of the satellite antenna PCOs is on the level of a few cm. With the new phase center model, orbit discontinuities at day boundaries can be reduced, and the consistency between GPS and GLONASS results is improved. To support the analysis of low Earth orbiter (LEO) data, igs08.atx was extended with LEO-derived PCV estimates for big nadir angles in June 2013. [Termes IGN] orientation interneRésumé : (auteur) The internal geometric distortion of charge-coupled-device (CCD) chips degrades the internal geometric accuracy of satellite images. Even if a large number of ground control points (GCPs) are used for geometric correction, the satellite images cannot always be used for direct mapping. Because of the current lack of core parameters for building a rigorous geometric model, this paper proposes a combined interior-orientation calibration method based on the rational function model (RFM) for multiple GF-1 wide-field-of-view (WFV) images of the same general scene. A polynomial model of look angles in the image space is chosen to compensate for the systemic error of CCD chips. After calibration for sensors 1 to 4, the orientation accuracy is improved to 0.4 pixels. Moreover, the residual error figures show no obvious trend. Other GF-1 WFV images are calibrated using the obtained interior-orientation parameters, and the improvement in their orientation accuracy is demonstrated to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) Antenna near-field effects are one of the accuracy limiting factors on GNSS-based distance measurements. In order to analyse these influences, a measurement campaign at an EDM calibration baseline site with optimum GNSS conditions was performed. To vary the distance between the antenna mount and the absolutely calibrated antennas, spacers with different lengths were used. Due to the comparison of the resulting GNSS-based distance measurements to a reference solution, the influences of the antenna near-field could be analyzed.
The standard deviations of the differences to the reference solution, i. e., 0.31 mm for the distance and 0.46 mm for the height component, indicate that equal spacer and antenna combinations at both stations lead to a very high accuracy level. In contrast, different spacer and antenna combinations decrease the accuracy level. Thus, an identical set-up at both antenna stations and the usage of individually calibrated antennas minimize the near-field effects during the double-differencing process. Hence, these aspects can be identified as a prerequisite for highly accurate GNSS-measurements.
In addition to near-field effects, the influence of satellite obstructions is investigated. Four realistic shadowing scenarios are numerically simulated on the basis of the observations, which were collected in the optimum surrounding of the EDM calibration baseline site. The comparison to nominal values indicates that a shadowing leads only to a slight decreasing of the accuracy. Consequently, there is a strong suspicion that multipath effects and signal distortions seem to have a greater influence on the accuracy of GNSS-based distance measurements than the satellite constellation.
