[Termes IGN] trajet (mobilité)Résumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we propose a method for predicting the distributions of people’s trajectories on the road network throughout a city. Specifically, we predict the number of people who will move from one area to another, their probable trajectories, and the corresponding likelihoods of those trajectories in the near future, such as within an hour. With this prediction, we will identify the hot road segments where potential traffic jams might occur and reveal the formation of those traffic jams. Accurate predictions of human trajectories at a city level in real time is challenging due to the uncertainty of people’s spatial and temporal mobility patterns, the complexity of a city level’s road network, and the scale of the data. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a method which includes several major components: (1) a model for predicting movements between neighboring areas, which combines both latent and explicit features that may influence the movements; (2) different methods to estimate corresponding flow trajectory distributions in the road network; (3) a MapReduce-based distributed algorithm to simulate large-scale trajectory distributions under real-time constraints. We conducted two case studies with taxi data collected from Beijing and New York City and systematically evaluated our method. [Termes IGN] résiduRésumé : (Auteur) To establish a basis for the utilization of lidar topography as a data source for coastal geomorphological analyses, this study generated statistical metrics of lidar error through the comparison of a June 2014 USGS collection of airborne lidar with a concurrently collected high-accuracy GPS topographical survey collected within the beach and dunes of a portion of Fire Island National Seashore. The examination of bare earth lidar error within the experiment site revealed a complex association between accuracy and environment within the coastal landscape. Accuracy was constrained to better than 50 cm RMSE in areas with vegetated dune topography and, overall, a 38.9 cm RMSE was measured. Higher accuracies were achieved in the flat, non-vegetated beach. A three-dimensional minimization of residuals between the lidar and GPS surveys reduced the total RMSE to 25.2 cm, indicating a correctable systematic offset between the surface generated from the lidar and the true ground surface. [Termes IGN] superpositionRésumé : (Auteur) Terrestrial laser scanning has demonstrated increasing potential for rapid comprehensive measurement of forest structure, especially when multiple scans are spatially registered in order to reduce the limitations of occlusion. Although marker-based registration techniques (based on retro-reflective spherical targets) are commonly used in practice, a blind marker-free approach is preferable, insofar as it supports rapid operational data acquisition. To support these efforts, we extend the pairwise registration approach of our earlier work, and develop a graph-theoretical framework to perform blind marker-free global registration of multiple point cloud data sets. Pairwise pose estimates are weighted based on their estimated error, in order to overcome pose conflict while exploiting redundant information and improving precision. The proposed approach was tested for eight diverse New England forest sites, with 25 scans collected at each site. Quantitative assessment was provided via a novel embedded confidence metric, with a mean estimated root-mean-square error of 7.2 cm and 89% of scans connected to the reference node. This paper assesses the validity of the embedded multiview registration confidence metric and evaluates the performance of the proposed registration algorithm. When a collection of locations (i.e. geotagged photos or other geotagged social media information) from a large number of individuals is assembled, it becomes possible to understand the interrelationship between the individuals and the space they occupy. This research systematically considers this interrelationship through an examination of the effect of the intersection of behavioral and spatial characteristics on individuals moving on street networks. The research illustrates how social media data, in combination with a biased random walker, can be used to understand and model the interaction of spatial structure and social-environmental factors on influencing individuals' use of their environment. The biased walker offers a flexible approach to incorporate consideration of both social-environmental and structural factors into a model and we demonstrate this through a case study wherein we are able to use the random walker to model the characteristics of Flickr users in New York City. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Current research on urban growth is witnessing a division between understanding urban phenomenon as an end product of underlying processes and assumption-based computational modelling. To bridge the gap, there is a need to seek evidence that solidifies any assumptions made about growth dynamics. For this purpose, we attempt to outline invariants in the historical evolution of two urban structures; Manhattan and Barcelona. By modelling changes on the street elements and the clusters they form, we mark invariants that expose self-organisational patterns similar to those in reaction-diffusion dynamics. While it is difficult to verify the role of these invariants in the organised behaviour of urban complexity, their very presence marks one of the defining characteristics for urban pattern recognition.
