[Termes IGN] triangulationRésumé : (auteur) Today, advances in 3D modeling make it possible to identically reproduce objects, animals, humans and even entire scenes. The broad applications concern video games, virtual reality or augmented reality and cinema, for example. In this article, we propose a new method to build a 3D scene directly from several complementary photographs. The positions of the objects for which we already have a 3D model will be determined by triangulation, thanks to the information extracted from the photographs, such as the outline of the objects on the images. Each pixel of the images is converted into a value that gives its distance to the nearest outline. The 3D model of the objects is then projected on the converted images, and the triangulation is done using a cost function that gives the distance of each projection of the objects to their respective outlines. A projection is considered perfect when its distance to its outlines is null, which means that the cost function gives a score of zero as well. We propose to solve this optimization problem by means of two algorithms, namely Simulated Annealing (SA) and quantum particle swarm optimization (QUAPSO). [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (auteur) German Aerospace Centre released TanDEM-X 90 m (TDM90) global digital elevation model (GDEM) as freely available in October, 2018 and declared that it describes all Earth’s landmasses pole to pole with 1 m absolute height accuracy which could not been achieved by previous space-borne GDEMs. In this study, the coherence level of TDM90 with SRTM90 and ASTER90 were comprehensively analysed by visual and statistical comparison approaches in two study areas including different topographic characteristics. In visual approaches, colour-scaled coherence maps, contour maps, aspects depending on ascending and descending flying orbits and outlier illustrations were generated and interpreted. In statistical approaches, horizontal and vertical absolute and relative geolocation disparities and frequency distributions of height differences were presented. The results demonstrated that the terrain slope has a great impact on the coherence levels between TDM90 and compared GDEMs. Overall, TDM90 is more coherent with SRTM90 against ASTER90 except clear dissimilarity problems in strip border lines. Although dozens of methods have been proposed, current techniques suffer from two main shortcomings: the quality of the produced road networks is still far from those produced manually, and the methods are slow, making them not scalable to large inputs. In this paper, we present a fast four-step density-based approach to construct a road network from a set of trajectories. A key aspect of our method is the use of an improved version of the Slide method to adjust trajectories to build a more compact density surface. The network has comparable or better quality than that of state-of-the-art methods and is simpler (includes fewer nodes and edges). Furthermore, we also propose a split-and-merge strategy that allows splitting the data domain into smaller regions that can be processed independently, making the method scalable to large inputs. The performance of our method is evaluated with extensive experiments on urban and hiking data. [Termes IGN] véhicule automobileRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we represent (moving) point configurations along a curved directed line qualitatively by means of a system of relational symbols based on two distance descriptors: one representing distance along the curved directed line and the other representing signed orthogonal distance to the curved directed line. The curved directed line represents the direction of the movement of interest. For instance, it could be straight as in the case of driving along a highway or could be curved as in the case of an intersection or a roundabout. Inspired by the Point Calculus, the order between the points on the curved directed line is described by means of a small set of binary relations () acting upon the distance descriptors. We call this representation the Point-Descriptor-Precedence-Static (PDPS) representation at a time point and Point-Descriptor-Precedence-Dynamic (PDPD) representation during a time interval. To illustrate how the proposed approach can be used to represent and analyse curved movements, some basic micro-analysis traffic examples are studied. Finally, we discuss some extensions of our work to highlight the practical benefits of PDP in identifying motion patterns that could be useful in GIS, autonomous vehicles, sports analytics, and gait analysis. [Termes IGN] triangulationRésumé : (auteur) This paper outlines a new framework for the calibration of optical instruments, in particular smartphone cameras, using highly redundant circular black-and-white target fields. New methods were introduced for (i) matching targets between images; (ii) adjusting the systematic eccentricity error of target centres; and (iii) iteratively improving the calibration solution through a free-network self-calibrating bundle adjustment. The proposed method effectively matched circular targets in 270 smartphone images, taken within a calibration laboratory, with robustness to type II errors (false negatives). The proposed eccentricity adjustment, which requires only camera projective matrices from two views, behaved comparably to available closed-form solutions, which require additional a priori object-space target information. Finally, specifically for the case of mobile devices, the calibration parameters obtained using the framework were found to be superior compared to in situ calibration for estimating the 3D reconstructed radius of a mechanical pipe (approximately 45% improvement on average).
