[Termes IGN] transformation de coordonnéesRésumé : (Auteur) The vector-based algorithms for biaxial and triaxial ellipsoidal coordinates presented by Feltens (J Geod 82: 493-504, 2008; 83: 129-137, 2009) have been extended to hyperboloids of one sheet. For the backward transformation from Cartesian to hyperboloidal coordinates, of two iterative process candidates one was identified to be well suited. It turned out that a careful selection of the center of curvature is essential for the establishment of a stable and reliable iteration process. In addition, for zero hyperboloidal heights a closed solution is presented. The hyperboloid algorithms are again based on simple formulae and have been successfully tested for various theoretical hyperboloids. The paper concludes with a practical application on a cooling construction. [Termes IGN] travaux publicsRésumé : (Auteur) Environmental monitoring is a fundamental process in the design, construction, operation and decommissioning phases of constructing large structures, such as highways, high-speed railways, and airports. Many different actors are involved in these steps: the owner (public or private); the planning, construction, and operation managers; the environmental teams executing the monitoring; the government department or agency responsible for protecting the environment and the health of the population; and, finally, the policy-makers. The environmental agency itself is composed of various domain experts dealing with different environmental arenas (air, water, etc.). Since most of the collected information refers to space and time, GISs are natural tools for storing and processing the data. Nevertheless, instruments, people, and communications technology are involved, and there is a potential for failure, waste of time and unnecessary costs to appear. A web platform based on OGC web services and allowing for sharing and processing the sensor and geographic information can greatly improve workflow management. This article presents a description of a working pilot that can serve as a solution to managing such a project, because it makes it possible to integrate geodata (maps and orthophotos) from different sources and to visualize and analyze the sensor data with respect to both time and space. [Termes IGN] tunnelRésumé : (Auteur) This paper examines the feasibility of underground-focusing spotlight synthetic aperture radar (UF-SL-SAR) systems for tunnel detection applications. A general formulation is reviewed for generating UF-SL-SAR imaging by using multiple frequencies across a wide band and by focusing in space to subsurface points using well-known ray refraction at the nominal ground surface. A full-wave finite-difference frequency-domain model is used to consider wave propagation in realistic soil with loss- and frequency-dependent dielectric constant and a randomly rough ground surface, both of which serve to obscure and distort the returned tunnel target signal. Imaging results are presented for two representative soil scenarios: dry sand and moist clay loam. Considering the ground surface ray refraction for focusing greatly improves the SAR image relative to conventional SAR focusing at the ground surface. Using UF-SL-SAR, a small shallow tunnel is reasonably imaged for the sand case, despite the roughness of the ground interface. However, for higher conductivity moist clay loam, the clutter from the rough surface overwhelms the significantly attenuated target signal, which must propagate through the lossy intervening soil. It is demonstrated that, despite ideal focusing, the tunnel is successfully imaged only for the sand case.
