[Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) In the conventions of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (e.g. IERS Conventions 2010), it is recommended that the instantaneous station position, which is fixed to the Earth’s crust, is described by a regularized station position and conventional correction models. Current realizations of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame use a station position at a reference epoch and a constant velocity to describe the motion of the regularized station position in time. An advantage of this parameterization is the possibility to provide station coordinates of high accuracy over a long time span. Various publications have shown that residual non-linear station motions can reach a magnitude of a few centimeters due to not considered loading effects. Consistently estimated parameters like the Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP) may be affected if these non-linear station motions are neglected. In this paper, we investigate a new approach, which is based on a frequent (e.g. weekly) estimation of station positions and EOP from a combination of epoch normal equations of the space geodetic techniques Global Positioning System (GPS), Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI). The resulting time series of epoch reference frames are studied in detail and are compared with the conventional secular approach. It is shown that both approaches have specific advantages and disadvantages, which are discussed in the paper. A major advantage of the frequently estimated epoch reference frames is that the non-linear station motions are implicitly taken into account, which is a major limiting factor for the accuracy of the secular frames. Various test computations and comparisons between the epoch and secular approach are performed. The authors found that the consistently estimated EOP are systematically affected by the two different combination approaches. The differences between the epoch and secular frames reach magnitudes of 23.6 uas (0.73 mm) and 39.8 uas (1.23 mm) for the x-pole and y-pole, respectively, in case of the combined solutions. For the SLR-only solutions, significant differences with amplitudes of 77.3 uas (2.39 mm) can be found. [Termes IGN] pontRésumé : (auteur) Bridge engineering involves many discrete stages throughout the life cycle of a bridge, within both the delivery phase of the infrastructure project and the subsequent operation and maintenance of the asset. Each stage comprises multiple complex processes by large project teams and relies on the efficient exchange of information throughout. Bridge information modelling is a form of 3-dimensional product modelling and involves many of the same processes used in building information modelling. It presents the opportunity for improvements in information flow throughout a bridge life cycle. Significant developments have been seen in the area of bridge information modelling over the last decade. By identifying a number of case studies, this paper reviews how bridge information modelling is being used on current international bridge projects from conceptual design, through preliminary and detailed design, to construction, operation, assessment and maintenance. A literature review is performed on recent relevant academic studies in the areas of bridge engineering, site surveying, building information modelling, and information exchange. [Termes IGN] Rhône (bassin)Résumé : (auteur) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and photogrammetry are two fields that have been boosted these last years. Using aerial means, one can easily acquire aerial data and produce high resolution dense surface models, orthophotos,... IGN (the French Mapping Agency) and CNR (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, which is the concessionary of the Rhône river and a hydraulic energy producer) have associated themselves on a thesis protect. The aim is to be able to monitor dykes from images acquired by UAV and take benefit from their convenience, targeting a centimetric accuracy on the Z-axis. This article presents our motivations and the problems we have faced in our first experiments. We also worked on a site covered by a terrestrial Lidar survey, and studied how minimizing the bundle adjustment residuals by using different calibrations would influence the quality of the computed models. Finally, we will introduce in a last part our last experiments to get a better understanding of poses estimation accuracy. [Termes IGN] tomographieRésumé : (auteur) A high resolution geophysical survey was carried out on the Pont De Coq, a medieval stone arch bridge located in Normandy (France) in 2011 and 2012. Two complementary methods are used: Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). They allow to evaluate the structural state of the bridge and to characterize the subsurface around and beneath the bridge. An excellent correlation is obtained between the geophysical methods and the geological data obtained around the bridge. In order to improve the restitution of the geophysical data, an advanced photogrammetric method is performed, providing a high resolution 3D Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the Pont de Coq. The advanced photogrammetry enhances the presentation of the GPR and ERT data. This approach is an easy-to-use, rapid and cost-effective tool for stakeholders. Finally, it is a promising and original method for improved interpretations of future geophysical surveys.
