[Termes IGN] transformation de HelmertRésumé : (auteur) Historical imagery is characterized by high spatial resolution and stereoscopic acquisitions, providing a valuable resource for recovering 3D land-cover information. Accurate geo-referencing of diachronic historical images by means of self-calibration remains a bottleneck because of the difficulty to find sufficient amount of feature correspondences under evolving landscapes. In this research, we present a fully automatic approach to detecting feature correspondences between historical images taken at different times (i.e., inter-epoch), without auxiliary data required. Based on relative orientations computed within the same epoch (i.e., intra-epoch), we obtain DSMs (Digital Surface Model) and incorporate them in a rough-to-precise matching. The method consists of: (1) an inter-epoch DSMs matching to roughly co-register the orientations and DSMs (i.e, the 3D Helmert transformation), followed by (2) a precise inter-epoch feature matching using the original RGB images. The innate ambiguity of the latter is largely alleviated by narrowing down the search space using the co-registered data. With the inter-epoch feature correspondences, we refine the image orientations and quantitatively evaluate the results (1) with DoD (Difference of DSMs), (2) with ground check points, and (3) by quantifying ground displacement due to an earthquake. We demonstrate that our method: (1) can automatically georeference diachronic historical images; (2) can effectively mitigate systematic errors induced by poorly estimated camera parameters; (3) is robust to drastic scene changes. Compared to the state-of-the-art, our method improves the image georeferencing accuracy by a factor of 2. The proposed methods are implemented in MicMac, a free, open-source photogrammetric software. [Termes IGN] vulnérabilitéRésumé : (auteur) The use of digital representations of physical objects allows to simulate phenomena and predict behaviours. The representativeness of a model is based on the congruency between the code, the survey and the modelling strategies. In terms of physical space, two important approaches are the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Building Information Modelling (BIM). GIS approach is intended to code environmental information based on geographical references. BIM approach is intended to code buildings in terms of their components, generating parametric descriptions. For historic buildings, BIM extends to the so-called Historical BIM models (HBIM). Together, these strategies allow coding territorial-scale entities, such as historical centres. An application for these models would be the simulation of risk situations, leading to vulnerability analysis. Despite the existence of GIS-BIM-HBIM integration examples, most of their procedures are designed to fit with a specific case study, which questions the suitability of a general coding framework. This paper presents a vision of state-of-the-art technologies and strategies for coding, surveying and model historical centres, with emphases on the analysis of urban vulnerability and risk. Finally, we propose a general comprehensive framework on the convergences of GIS-BIM-HBIM technologies and successful practices. The vulnerability assessment of coastal areas, in relation to climate change, is a key topic of worldwide increasing interest. The integration of methodologies supported by Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and in situ monitoring has allowed a viable identification of vulnerable areas to erosion. In the present study, a model was proposed to the assessment of the estuarine system of Cananéia-Iguape (Brazil), by applying the evaluation and prediction of vulnerability models for the conservation and preservation of mangroves. Approximately 1221 Km2 were classified, with 16% of the total presenting high and very high vulnerability to erosion. Other relevant aspects, were the identification and georeferencing sites that showed strong evidence of erosion and, thus, having a huge influence on the final vulnerability scores. The obtained results led to the development of a multidisciplinary approach through the application of a prediction and description model that resulted from the adaptation of the study system from a set of implemented models for coastal regions, in order to contribute to the erosion vulnerability assessment in the mangroves ecosystems (and associated localities, municipalities and communities). [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Robust approaches for image change detection (ICD) are essential for a range of large-scale applications. However, the uncertainties involved in such approaches have not been fully addressed. To investigate this problem, this paper proposes a new approach for change detection from multi-temporal very high resolution (VHR) satellite imagery based on uncertainty detection and management. First, two GeoEye-1 images of Giza urban area (Egypt), acquired in 2009 and 2019, have been geographically co-registered and their histograms have been matched. Second, a set of feature attributes have been generated from the co-registered images. Third, the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm has been adopted to classify the data into four classes: building, tree, road, and ground. In this regard, the co-registered images along with the generated attributes have been applied as input data for the SVM to calculate the probability of each pixel belonging to each class. After that, the probability images for both epochs have been compared to model the uncertainty of changes. The uncertainty places are then evaluated to estimate their likelihood of being change or no change. Finally, the obtained results have been compared with manually digitized change detection map. Compared with using the widely used post-classification comparison (PCC) approach, the results suggest that (1) the proposed method has improved the overall accuracy of change detection by 13%; (2) the class-accuracies have been improved by 35.63%; and (3) the achieved accuracies for the proposed approach are less variable. Whereas the standard deviation (SD) of the accuracies obtained for the proposed approach is 6.80, the SD of those obtained for the PCC approach is 35.50. [Termes IGN] précision géométrique (imagerie)Résumé : (auteur) This study aimed to explore the influence of flight altitude, density, and distribution of ground control points (GCPs) on the digital terrain model (DTM) in surveys conducted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A total of 144 photogrammetric projects consisting of 399 aerial photos were carried out in a 2 ha area. These photogrammetric projects involved six GCP distributions (edge, center, diagonal, parallel, stratified, and random), six GCP densities, and four flight altitudes (30, 60, 90, and 120 m). The response surface methodology was used to find interference factors and total root-mean-square error (RMSEt) as well. The 60 m flight altitude presented was the most efficient. Central GCP distribution was observed to have low precision. Using stratified and random edge distributions, 10 GCPs are recommended to achieve geometric precision below 0.07 m at any flight height. However, for studies requiring up to 0.07 m precision, the best distribution was parallel with 4 GCPs at any altitude. Diagonal positioning of the GCPs showed RMSEt values below 0.11 m with 4 GCPs at any altitude. A good distribution of GCPs was found to be important, but the density of GCPs per image was more relevant when obtaining a lower RMSEt.
