[Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) Today, low-cost and light-weight navigation sensors allow continuous positioning and attitude determination of mobile platforms, which can be used for geodata acquisition. The georeferencing accuracy which can be achieved depends directly on the quality of navigation sensors used. For many application scenarios, like eco-localisation problems realised with MEMS-INS in combination with GNSS navigation-grade receivers, or location-based services based on smartphones, the achievable registration accuracy with respect to existing geodatabase content is insufficient. This work develops and investigates concepts and approaches which allow real-time georegistration of mobile-captured video streams and single images based on coarse initial position and attitude information in combination with existing digital 3d city models. For the realisation and validation of the developed concepts and algorithms, video streams which have been captured with mini and micro unmanned aircraft are used. These platforms are particularly flexible and cost-effective for real-time geodata acquisition. Because of the limited payload capacity and costs of mini and micro unmanned aircraft, only low cost and quality navigation sensors are employed for flight data determination. However, these sensors also achieve a direct georeferencing accuracy which is insufficient for many mapping applications.
The proposed concept consists of a two-step georeferencing approach. The first step uses the direct georeferencing approach which is based on the available flight data from the flight controller being used for coarse registration. In applications where the achievable georegistration accuracy from the first step is insufficient, the following integrated georeferencing approach allows for accuracy improvement and precise image-registration. To this end, first a fully automatic image-to-model matching approach is used. This matching approach applies extracted edges from a single image to an existing digital 3d city model with the aid of the known coarse initial georeferencing solution. Based on the assigned 3d city model edges in each key frame of the image sequence, a resection based or a continuous bundle adjustment approach, allows the independent estimation of exterior orientations. The independently determined exterior orientation updates are subsequently used in a complementary Kalman filter which estimates the current error state of the direct georeferencing solution. Awareness of the current error state allows continuous correction and improvement of the georegistration. Especially the developed image-to-model matching algorithm enables the precise registration of images with respect to existing 3d city models based on coarse initial position and attitude information. Further, the proposed integrated georeferencing approach can be considered as an INS/GNSS/Vision data fusion approach, which supports on the one hand, a navigation solution with the aid of the additionally available imagery data. On the other hand, the proposed solution allows registration and navigation data estimation with respect to an existing geodetic reference system. A video-georeferencing-prototype software was developed for validation of the proposed georegistration approach and testing of algorithms. At the same time, the first georeferencing step was implemented in the available UAVision software framework. With UAVision, real-time video georegistration can be demonstrated. Different video sequences, acquired with micro and mini unmanned aircraft and processed with the video-georeferencing-prototype software, show the serviceability of the proposed georegistration approach. Investigations show a georegistration accuracy improvement of a factor of three with the integrated georeferencing solution compared to the direct georeferencing solution. Depending on flight stability and flight platform, the quality of the integrated navigation sensors as well as the available flight state update frequency, a georegistration accuracy of 0.5m for mini and 1m for micro platforms are achievable with the proposed two-stage georegistration approach.Note de contenu : 1 Einleitung

Note de contenu : Introduction

The Global Geodetic Observing System established by the IAG utilizes a variety of techniques to determine the geometric shape of the Earth and its kinematics, the variations of Earth rotation, and the Earth’s gravity field. Space techniques play a fundamental role, with recent space missions also including gravity field recovery. Terrestrial techniques are important for regional and local applications, and for validating the results of the space missions. Global and regional reference systems are now well established and widely used. They also serve as a basis for geo-information systems. The analysis of the time variation of the geodetic products provides the link to other geosciences and contributes to proper modelling of geodynamic processes. The book follows the principal directions of geodesy, providing the theoretical background as well as the principles of measurement and evaluation methods. Selected examples of instruments illustrate the geodetic work. An extensive reference list supports further studies. The book is intended to serve as an introductory textbook for graduate students as well as a reference for scientists and engineers in the fields of geodesy, geophysics, surveying engineering and geomatics Note de contenu : 1 Introduction

[Termes IGN] trait de côteRésumé : (Auteur) Between 1887 and 1888, Henry L. Marindin, Assistant Topographer of the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey, conducted a detailed survey of the outer shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, providing an important base line for future comparisons, "which will he of value to geologists and others who study the changes in the coast-line". In 2007, the Land-Sea Interaction Program of the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies began a project to resurvey Marindin's profiles and cross-sections to quantify changes to landforms and the nearshore environment that have occurred over the past century for use in estimating future conditions in the context of climate change and sea level rise. In order to facilitate reliable, quantitative shoreline comparisons, the translation of historical spatial data to contemporary horizontal (e.g., NAD83) and vertical (e.g., NAVD88) reference systems is paramount. With historical transects translated to NAD83 using methods developed as part of a previous study, the goal of this work is to develop an accurate estimate of the relationship between Marindin's elevation data and NAVD88. Recognizing that the physical and social landscape had changed significantly over the past 120+ years, a historical base map was prepared to assist with the recovery of 19th century benchmarks. Using the base map, five Coast survey benchmarks were recovered and resurveyed. Based on the results of this work, the local mean sea level datum of Marindin's survey is estimated to be 1.13 feet (0.34 meters) below the NAVD88 plane of reference. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (auteur) The problem of choosing an optimal reference system for the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) is studied for both the rigorous solution which is a simultaneous stacking (removal of the reference system at each data epoch and implementation of a linear in time coordinate model) for all techniques, as well as for the usual numerically convenient separation into a set of individual stackings one for each technique and a final combination step for the derived initial coordinates and velocities. Two approaches are followed, an algebraic and a kinematic one. The algebraic approach implements the inner constraints, which minimize the sum of squares of the unknown parameters, as well as partial inner constraints, which minimize the sum of squares of a subset of the unknown parameters. In the kinematical approach the optimal minimal constraints are derived by requiring the minimization of the apparent coordinate variations: (a) with respect to the origin by imposing constant coordinates for the network barycenter, (b) with respect to orientation by imposing zero relative angular momentum for the network points conceived as mass points with equal mass and (c) with respect to the scale by imposing constant mean quadratic size (involving the distances of stations from their barycenter).
