[Termes IGN] subsidenceRésumé : (Auteur) Satellite radar interferometry can be used to spatially monitor small vertical ground deformations. When millimeter accuracy is required, the differential interferometry technique is hampered by the ambiguity with atmospheric artifacts. It is also often difficult to obtain a precise evaluation of the kinematic evolution of ground deformations from a set of time, randomly distributed interferograms. We present the results of a least-squares approach coupled with a temporal filtering and applied to a large data set over the City of Paris. The mean deformation rate and a map of areas affected by time, non-linear deformation events are presented. We show that this approach, which provides a chronologically ordered set of phase screens, allows the retrieval of the kinematic Parameters of ground deformations as low as 1 to 2 mm per year. Subsiding areas have been detected, and their evolution in time has been quantified. Such an approach can be useful to fully characterize the kinematic evolution of ground deformations in major cities or desertic areas where large areas have a high degree of coherence and where millimeter accuracy is often required. [Termes IGN] précision de localisationRésumé : (Auteur) Currently, high precision kinematic GPS positioning with centimetre-level accuracy can only be carried out using a differential GPS (DGPS) positioning approach which requires the deployment of a GPS receiver at each base station. The DGPS approach, spatially limits the operating range of the rover receiver to about 20 km from the base stations. As a result, it increases not only the operational cost of equipment and human resources but also the logistical complexity of many applications such as land and geodetic surveying, and airborne mapping. With the increased availabiliiy of precise GPS satellite orbit and clock data with reduced latency from the International GPS Service (IGS) and many other organizations, high precision kinematic at centimetre to decimetre-level is now possible using a single GPS receiver. This paper describes a method known as precise point positioning and its application to airborne kinematic positioning. Different from the conventional DGPS approach, the new method does not need a base station since the positioning determination is based on the processing of un-differenced code and carrier-phase observations from a single GPS receiver. It therefore eliminates the dependency on base station and the rover range limitation associated with conventional methods, resulting in instant advantages in field operations. A software system that has been developed at the University of Calgary will also be described in this paper along with numerical results to demonstrate the positioning accuracy obtainable. However, this algorithm delivers reliable valuations of unknown parameters und associated accuracy measures only if the functional and stochastic models are appropriate. Observations using the Global Positioning System (GPS) are affected by various influences, e.g. by the atmosphere. Hence, it seems to be a reasonable conclusion that the commonly used stochastic model of GPS-observations with a scaled identity matrix with homoscedastic (i.e. equal variance) and uncorrelated errors is not adequate. The knowledge of the stochastic behaviour of GPS-observations can be improved by analyzing time series of residuals originating from Least Squares evaluation. Based on this analysis a procedure for modifying the covariance matrix of double-differenced GPS carrier-phase observations is presented. Essentially, it consists of two steps. At first individual variance functions for all double-difference observations depending on the satellite elevation for modifying the main diagonal of its covariance matrix are estimated. Secondly, temporal correlations are determined to adapt the other parts of the covariance matrix. All steps are verified by suitable statistical tests. The procedure is applied to extensive data sets with different characteristics. The results of the evaluation process, taking into account all realizations of the stochastic model mentioned above, are presented. It is shown that modifying the main diagonal of the covariance matrix with elevation-dependent variance functions leads to significant changes in the estimated ellipsoidal height of GPS-stations only for long baselines. The accuracy measures are not affected by this modification. In contrast to these results, considering temporal correlations in the covariance matrix of GPS-double difference observations causes distinct changes in the accuracy measures of all coordinate components independently of the baseline length. [Termes IGN] sportIndex. décimale : 30.80 Applications diverses de géodésie spatiale Résumé : (Auteur) Carrier phase based GPS applications with centimeter accuracy have become more popular over the last years, not only in surveying. First investigations are accomplished in sports sciences as well. However, most geodetic GPS equipment is too large and too heavy for attaching it at the athletes body. Using the potential of miniaturized electronics, a special GPS receiver for ski jumping was developed. The hardware could be integrated completely into a common jumping helmet. Striving to an ideal measurement system with no influence on the athlete activities only little adverse effects remain on the athletes using the GPS-helmet. The topography of jumping hills results in a more or less shadowing of the GPS satellite signals. Not all jumping hills are applicable for GPS measurements. Measurement campaigns need to be well planned considering satellite constellation issues. Centimeter accuracy requires successful integer ambiguity fixing. Common algorithms assume uninterrupted signal reception over a sufficient long time. But the 10-20 seconds for an attempt, take-off, flight and landing are not long enough. Thus a laser light barrier array was developed. It determines position and time of the GPS-helmet during athletes take-off from the ramp. This information enables the ambiguity fixing and enhances accuracy and reliability of the solution, even for short GPS measurement segments. The system was successfully tested during some training sessions of german ski jumpers. It was shown which informations can be derived from positions and velocities for several phases of a jump.
