[Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (auteur) The availability of GPS survey data spanning 22 years, along with several independent velocity solutions including up to 16 years of permanent GPS data, presents a unique opportunity to search for persistent (and thus reliable) deformation patterns in the Western Alps, which in turn allow a reinterpretation of the active tectonics of this region. While GPS velocities are still too uncertain to be interpreted on an individual basis, the analysis of range-perpendicular GPS velocity profiles clearly highlights zones of extension in the center of the belt (15.3 to 3.1 nanostrain/year from north to south), with shortening in the forelands. The contrasting geodetic deformation pattern is coherent with earthquake focal mechanisms and related strain/stress patterns over the entire Western Alps. The GPS results finally provide a reliable and robust quantification of the regional strain rates. The observed vertical motions of 2.0 to 0.5 mm/year of uplift from north to south in the core of the Western Alps is interpreted to result from buoyancy forces related to postglacial rebound, erosional unloading, and/or viscosity anomalies in the crustal and lithospheric root. Spatial decorrelation between vertical and horizontal (seismicity related) deformation calls for a combination of processes to explain the complex present-day dynamics of the Western Alps. [Termes IGN] Sinkiang (Chine)Résumé : (Auteur) This study investigates the 3 July 2015 (Mw=6.4) earthquake that affected Pishan County in Xinjiang, China. Using Synthetic Aperture Radar interferometry (InSAR), we mapped the near-field surface displacement of this event to better characterize the seismic source parameters. The inverted results suggest that a conjugate fault system could produce very similar deformation patterns as those observed in both ascending and descending InSAR observations, and the south-dipping fault is selected as the optimal fault responsible for the event. The selected fault was concentrated on a thrust fault with a strike of 112°, a dip of 25° and an average rake angle of 89°. The InSAR analysis reveals a fragmentation of the Western Kunlun north margin fault, and the overall deformation of the seismogenic fault is characterized by thrust motion, which is consistent with the transpressional tectonic characteristics of the major faults in this region. [Termes IGN] réseau géodésique localRésumé : (auteur) The Basque Country in the north of Spain is located inside the Basque-Cantabrian basin of the western Pyrenees which remarkable seismic-tectonic implications justify the need of geodetic control in the area. In order to perform a crustal deformation study we have analysed all daily observations from the GNSS permanent network of Guipuzcoa and external IGS stations, from January 2007 to November 2011. We have carried out the data processing applying double differences methodology in the automatic processing module BPE (Bernese Processing Engine) from Bernese GNSS software version 5.0. Solution was aligned to geodetic reference framework ITRF2008, by using the IGS08 solution and updated satellite and terrestrial antennas calibration. This five years network study results: Coordinate time series, velocities and baseline lengths variations show internal stability among inner stations and from them with respect to outer IGS stations, concluding that no deformations have been observed. [Termes IGN] tectonique des plaquesRésumé : (auteur) Understanding how and when far-field continuous motions lead to giant subduction earthquakes remains a challenge. An important limitation comes from an incomplete description of aseismic mass fluxes at depth along plate boundaries. Here we analyse Earth’s gravity field variations derived from GRACE satellite data in a wide space-time domain surrounding the Mw 9.0 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake. We show that this earthquake is the extreme expression of initially silent deformation migrating from depth to the surface across the entire subduction system. Our analysis indeed reveals large-scale gravity and mass changes throughout three tectonic plates and connected slabs, starting a few months before March 2011. Before the Tohoku-Oki earthquake rupture, the gravity variations can be explained by aseismic extension of the Pacific plate slab at mid-upper mantle depth, concomitant with increasing seismicity in the shallower slab. For more than two years after the rupture, the deformation propagated far into the Pacific and Philippine Sea plate interiors, suggesting that subduction accelerated along 2,000 km of the plate boundaries in March 2011. This gravitational image of the earthquake’s long-term dynamics provides unique information on deep and crustal processes over intermediate timescales, which could be used in seismic hazard assessment. [Termes IGN] TaïwanRésumé : (auteur) Characterizing active faults and quantifying their activity are major concerns in Taiwan, especially following the major Chichi earthquake on 21 September 1999. Among the targets that still remain poorly understood in terms of active tectonics are the Hengchun and Kenting faults (Southern Taiwan). From a geodynamic point of view, the faults affect the outcropping top of the Manila accretionary prism of the Manila subduction zone that runs from Luzon (northern Philippines) to Taiwan. In order to better locate and quantify the location and quantify the activity of the Hengchun Fault, we start from existing geological maps, which we update thanks to the use of two products derived from unmanned aircraft system acquisitions: (1) a very high precision ( Numéro de notice : A2018-239 Affiliation des auteurs : UPEM-LASTIG+Ext (2016-2019) Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.5194/nhess-18-829-2018 Date de publication en ligne : 15/03/2018 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.5194/nhess-18-829-2018 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=90191
