[Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (Auteur) The research reported here is motivated by the now ubiquitous nature of web mapping services that provide remotely sensed imagery as a basemap option. Despite the popularity of imagery basemaps, few strategies have been suggested to enhance their readability. Here, we describe a controlled experiment leveraging the eye tracking method to explore the potential of enhancing remotely sensed imagery when used for cartographic presentation. Specifically, 20 participants had their eye movements recorded as they visually searched for areas of interest in either an unmodified image (such as typical in web mapping services) or enhanced image (using image processing routines common to Remote Sensing). By interpreting the eye movement fixations and saccades of participants using a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, we found that the image enhancements improved both the effectiveness of and efficiency in identifying areas of interest, particularly those previously concealed in more visually complex area Numéro de notice : A2014-643 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1179/1743277413Y.0000000071 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1179/1743277413Y.0000000071 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=75089

[Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (Auteur) This article contributes to the clarification of the coordinate reference systems (CRS) used by some Web mapping applications. This is a complex issue, mainly because of a lack of pertinent information; there is little published literature on CRS, and information available online – which is not produced by mapping experts – is fragmented and often imprecise. Following a short introduction focusing on Web mapping and the European Petroleum Survey Group (EPSG) database, which is currently maintained and published by the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) Geomatics Committee, the article analyzes the CRS used by some well-known Web mapping applications, such as Google Maps and Bing Maps (planimetric browsers) and Google Earth (virtual globe). Some geodetic technical information is given, with reference to the main desktop GIS software libraries and to reports on CRS queried from different versions of the EPSG database (2008–2013). [Termes IGN] visualisation cartographique
[Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (Auteur) Spatial Data Warehouse (SDW) and Spatial On-Line Analytical Processing (SOLAP) systems are technologies intended to support geographic business intelligence. SOLAP clients provide a cartographic representation of facts on maps, and perform SOLAP operations through simple user interactions with the maps. Services are unassociated, loosely coupled units of functionality that are self-contained. A Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural design pattern where each tier is defined by means of a set of web services. (Un)luckly, there is currently no standard approach to implement SOA solution for visualizing the results of SOLAP queries. Existing SOLAP clients are not flexible and provide closed ad-hoc implementation policies for the visualization of SOLAP queries, which is an important obstacle to interoperability. In this paper we propose a data model for the cartographic visualization of SOLAP queries. Based on this model, we present a new SOA architecture for SOLAP systems where the SOLAP client is totally based on standard data representations (e.g. XMLA, SL D, etc.), and cartographic visualization web services (XMLA, WMS, etc.).
